Hello every one,
I am looking for a Dropped pitman arm for my X. Just finished all the fab work for the SAS on it, little bits and pieces are left. The stock pitman arm comes to collision point with the track bar mounting bracket on the frame. That's why I am looking for a dropped pitman arm. I am hoping many folks here have come across the same scinario. So, does any one know of a dropped pitman arm for the X? Who makes it ..etc?

Thanks for the info

Riad

Andy had one built for his Frontier. I don't think anybody makes them specifically for the X.

Thanks! I guess fronty and the X have the same pitman arm as far as the number of splines are concerned and the diameter? Andy, if you're reading this, where did you get yours built? I'd appreciate the info.

Thanks

Andy's isnt a drop pitman.. his is just a stock pitman that's been reamed and reinforced.

As far as I know, there are no drop pitmans available for nissans.

This is the same problem I was going to have.. solved it by relocating the steering box forward on the frame, which moves the pitman end forwards 2-3".

I don't know what interference you are having, mine doesn't hit anything. I bet you just need to lift the rig more, or get rid of that track bar thing you are talking about. Big Grin

I guess if I had some pictures of the current steering situation, I'd be able to explain it more. But I don't have any yet. I will get some soon. But until then, let me try to explain what's going on. I have 6" coils + Radious arms + the dana44 front end. Seems like what I am calling track bar, has different names in different places. This is the bar that centers the axle. It has to be there. I thought of reaming and re-enforcing but wasn't sure if that would cause some other problem. I am trying to avoid re-locating the box. I saw some pictures of relocation. Do you guys have any picture of the reamed pitman arm?

Thanks

A reemed pitman arm is the same as a stock one except it has a little bit bigger and tapered hole. You have a situation that doesn't occur with a leaf set up, so I am not sure what you can do except move the steering box. Maybe make a drop pitman out of a Nissan and a chevy pitman. Weld the shit out of it, and add some beef, and it will last.

This is my pitman arm. It actually started life as a stock Xterra piece, but it's not dropped....it's reamed to accept the Jeep TRE I used and as you can see it's been reinforced.
