Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of the Rancho 2.5" suspension lift kit for the Xterra?

Is it a good complete kit?

Will it clear 265/75 R16 tires?

Do you have to add anything to it to make it trail worthy?

Are there any forseen or known problems with it?

I'd go with a calmini or AC lift over the Rancho.. Not sure if it holds true for the X, but for the D21s, the rancho kits were a little on the iffy side.

Those tires can fit stock on an '02+ Xterra with a little mudflap trimming and using stock rims.

This is my first xterra. I've read alot about mudflap/fender? trimming. What exactly do you have to cut?
What should you use and is it very difficult?

Thanks for your help!

If I run those 275/75 R16 tires, will I lose a lot of top end?
Will I still have passing power and power to tow a ski boat?

I have an XE 4x4.

Thanks again

You won't lose any power that you have now.

Trimming is easy, some use a dremmel, but I found a hacksaw works great with a bit more control. I have some pics somewhere....

It's basically easy just cut where it rubs.

On the Rancho lift this bolt likes to back out...atleast on the D21s

It pinches against the bolt on the other side of the shaft and no amount of lock tight keeps it on.

That wouldn't be a problem on an Xterra...the upper bolt configuration is different.

Thanks for the info.

With that trimming, can the mudflaps still be used?

I will say the mudflaps are very succeptible to being torn off on trail obstacles.

True that, I take mine off for 'wheeling.
FYI, I run the 2002 flaps on my trimmed 2000's flares, works dandy.

If I run the 265/75 R16 tires on my 03 with out any suspension lift, will it look ok? Will there be enough clearance between the tires and the wheel well after trimming or will it fit in so tight that it looks stupid?

Also, if I mounted an ARB or TJM Bull bar w/winch, will the weight of the bumper and winch affect the leveling of the front end? What I mean is will the front end sag or cause the tires to rub?

Thanks

Chip
