Lets see what kinds of lighting setups yall have! What brand and model lights? Do you use a relay? If so, what kind? How are they mounted?

ANy moderately powerful accessory you add to your truck ( lights , horn, etc.) ought to be wired thru a relay. Radio shack or a good auto parts store ought to have a 30 amp relay - that 'll do for just about any accessory you want to run.

I've got 4 cheapo lights from Autozone ($24.99/pr.) and I put in 100w bulbs from Wal-Mart ($4.97/ea.) and I run it through parallel relays. I've got a rocker switch on the accessory circuit that connects to both relays, which are connected to a power distribution panel with an 8 gauge wire running into it. There's 12g wire running into the relays, and 14g wire feeding 2 lights each. It looks pretty good and works great. I can take some pictures if you'd like, and I can try to answer any questions you have

Forward Lighting:

I'm using knock off KC lights.. they were $40 a set, but required some clear silicone to seal them up from water.

I have the front two lights wired up to relays tripped by the oringal foglight wires. So, I must have my headlights on, flip the foglight switch to turn on the front two. Then the top two are on a seperate switch but work in addition to the front two lights. So, if the front two lights arent enough, i can flip on the 2nd set on top. Then, if i turn off the headlights, they all turn off. Smile

Reverse Lighting:

I also have a cheap set of $12 blazer foglights mounted on the roof rack facing backwards. I tapped into my reverse light wiring so that they come on in reverse. These made a HUGE difference in visibility at night. Anyone with a pathfinder knows how hard it is to see anything behind the truck at night. parking lots are the worst. I still have yet to wire these up to a switch so I can turn them on for camp lighting, etc.

I'm planning on adding a couple more foglights to my roofrack to act as side lighting. When on the trail out in the desert, it can be REALLY dark.. with lighting off to the side, you can see just how close to the edge you really are. Wink

Rock Lighting:

I have another set of cheap plastic lens lights aimed outwards in front of the rear tires.. These work well on rocks, etc, as you can lean out and look backwards to see where the rear tires are. I have to credit TheDrip for installing these before AZRun3. Go DripSpeed!

I'm going to be adding one more set of lights inside the ARB bumper facing out and down for rock lighting for the front tires.

I have a lot of electrical work to do still.. need to install an in-dash switch panel and put each set of lights on its own switchable circuit. Right now, the rock lights come on with the front lights, and I cant turn on the reverse lights w/o going into reverse.

Sure...I'll take the heat...
Up front I have 2 cheaping offroad lights from Walmart. I got those for Christmas about 4 years ago. They are wired to the original factory foglight wiring and switch.
I the rear I couldn't (didn't feel like taking the time) find the wire for the reverse lights. So I wired it to a switch up front. I still have to wire in the relay. Oh and those lights were $11 on clearance at the Base Exchange (BX) or PX for those Army people.
I also had Xenon bulbs up front, but they didn't light up crap!!

I re-wired the stock fogs so that they would run anytime. I've got 55w Hellas that ca run when the key is turned. And there's 2 55w blazers on the roof facing backwards wired the same way. All of these are on relays. Fires suck lol

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Hmmmm lights.. crazy

Up front, i have a pair Procomp 130s on the nudge bar, 130w in each, also
a pair of standard fron fogs under the turn signals.

On the roll bars, i have 4 KC's with 100w's in each

Reversing lights, i have a pair of mini spots with standard 55w bulbs,

Underneath, i have purple neons.
Also have amber strobe warning lights on the roll bars..( i have to park in some real busy places)

have a second battery (otptima) mounted underneath, (made a shelf and bracket, mounted to the chasis) to power all these babies !!

I made a custom rack to fit behind the rear seats to mound the dozen or so realys ans power leads etc.

Nice!

As for me...

Im fixing to install some lights a friend of mine gave to me. Theyre just some 4" GE lights with some rubber housings and glass lenses. I plan on putting some silicone around the edges to keep water out. There was water in one of them when I got them.

Ive also got a 30,000 candlepower cigarette lighter plug-in spotlight that Im fixing to fabricate a custom mount for so that I can put it on the outside of the truck when Im using it alot.

You aint a kiddin! Put it within 6" of your arm, and the light shining on your arm, and you learn to quickly aim it elsewhere. Part of the plastic housing around the lense has melted where a previous owner maybe sit it face down on something or something along them lines.

I bought it at a garage sale for $0.75...

Thank goodness the talk has gone from mounted lights to hand helds.

I've got the crappiest fog lights I think have ever been made, from Wally-World. They looked good in the box, well constructed, good specs, etc. But when I put them on, well, lets just say, I see the same with my regular headlights. I don't see any difference what-so-ever.

BUT, since we're now on hand-helds... I just forked out $50 for a spotlight (got jealous of my friends). It has 3 settings. 1 is an area light; works great for working under the hood. 2 is a 1,500,000 candle-power lamp. Then the 3rd setting is one more 1,500,000 candle-power lamp heats up, for a total of 3 million. Plus, it comes with a rechargeable battery (normal for these things), a 110v AC charger, AND a 12v cig. lighter charger. And it works while charging.

So I took it out the other night, and my bud's first response was, "Dude, try not to spotlight the planes. Don't want to blind any pilots at 30,000 feet!!" It's pretty sweet. I recommend one to anybody!

"Know what I would do if I had a million dollars... 2 chicks at one time..."
