Hey! First post, first pathfinder. I just got a 94 auto pathfinder but it has a problem.
Ok, brand new battery, 11.56volts when not running, about 14v when running. It drives fine and everything electrical works. Stop the truck and 5 mins later it will have a real hard time starting like the batt is dead (slow slow turn over and dim/no headlights), then about 10mins later no go at all, nothing works like there is a dead batt... but the multimeter still reads it just under 12v. Put jumper's on it and away she goes no problems. Any ideas on whats happening??? Nick |

11.5v will BARELY start a vehicle at the best of times. Normal voltage for a car battery is 13-13.2v WITHOUT the car running. anything above 12.8 would be acceptable. It sounds like you have a dead cell. Time for a new battery.

Thank you, good to know. I probably bought a bad battery then. I'll toss it on the charger tonight and see if anything happens

A battery at rest should be 12.6 volts.
Check your connections. Dirty connections will cause the problems that you are describing. It sounds like it is charging enough at 14volts, but you should turn on lights and accessories to see if it still charges at 13.5 volts or more. |

Thanks for all the help guys. I took my 4 month old battery out of my Ford and threw her in. Works great now! Only problem is my ford now has no battery.
I'm taking the faulty one back tomorrow 'cause it's less then a month old |

Look for a "manufactured date" less than 2 months old- all new batteries will have this somewhere. Older than that and theyh start to sulfate. .....................
