Just ordered the Mean Green Alternator. My bearings are making crazy noise.
Wondering if I HAVE to get a yellow top now? Meh. |

Yellow top would be nice. If you find yourself running your battery down a lot, the yellow top would work very well for you. Mine has been great for my winch.

But do I HAVE to get a new battery? The one I have now is fine, and I was planning on throwing the old Alt in my spare parts bag....
Meh. |

No, there's no reason to get a new battery.

You will be happy with that alternator.
As Andy and Datz said, you don't have to replace the battery. I would however suggest that you run a bigger cable from the alternator to the battery(positive side) since you will be pushing more current. |

I just got a new bearing for my alternator. It was $11 from a bearing shop.

I wasn't gonna toss it, I was gonna put it in my spare parts bag. Which is so heavy now I can hardly lift that sucker.
Meh. |

What is "stock step rails?"
Mean Green now has an application for the D21/WD21 VG30E. Stan So this is where the AC/NOR members are hiding. |

I checked the website, but MG still only lists the Frontier/Xs. What is the part number for the WD21 alternator?

Stock step rails.
I'm taking a poll if I should take them off. I'm afraid if I do I'll scratch my paint at the mall. Meh. |

Shoot! I can't find the email with the D21/WD21 VG30E Mean Green part number.
Best to call them up and get the part number. I'm sorry, but if you get the part number, please post it here. Stan So this is where the AC/NOR members are hiding. |

Thanks ef9...anybody have any idea what they are running and just how many amps they squeezed out?

Just a side note. The guy I spoke to at Mean Green apparently doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.
He said at idle, the alternator can put out 100Amps. I find that inaccurate. Stan So this is where the AC/NOR members are hiding. |
