Okay I am debating winches, Money is tight so i want to get that is priced right. Im debating between a Warn 9.5k for 1,000 dollars or a T-Max 10k for 530.00. Has anyone heard anything about T-max anyone got any reviews? The specs are similar, and im thinking i can get a pair of sliders and some other things with the saved $470.00

Question:
Which Winch?

Choices:
Warn9.5k For $1,000.00
T-Max10k for $530.00

I've never heard of a T-Max. Confused

The Warn 9.5k is a sweet winch, but if you are tight on money, why not get something like a Warn M8000? I got mine 5+ years ago for around $650 and its still kicking. They should be less now. Double up the line for 16,000 lb of pull.

That'll leave you with cash for sliders as well as a good winch.

Quadratec has the 8000 for cheap:

10k is a pretty beefy winch.

FWIW, my pathy is pretty heavy and my M8000 doesn't have any problem pulling it over obstacles. I carry a snatch block for winching around corners or for doubling the line for a 16k pull. Its worked very well and has been dead reliable since the day I put it in.

I've pulled 15-20 cactus/trees/shrubs for myself and others with it as well. With a double line pull, it just yanks everything out of the ground. Its been a great winch.

It all comes down to personal preference I guess.

I have a 9.5ti and I love it. Very quick and powerfull. I find that most threads that start like this usually end up with the poster buying the less exspensive unit. I'm not saying the T-max is no good, but Warn has a track record fo eing at the top of the food chain. For occasional use, the T-max may do fine. I just don't have 1st or 2nd hand exsperience with it.

Here is the low down on warn VS all other winches.

Milemarker, t-max, supperwinch ect. Get their pulling rating from gear reduction. All t-max winches state 6HP but their gearing ratio is double of the warn.

Warn gets their pulling power from the strength in the motor and not so much in the gear reduction. A warn 8K will out pull my MM 8K in just about every situation.

Whats the reason for the 9.5 xp, aside from the fact it's warn's highest HP winch. All the miami mall crawler guys run the MM 12k.

Actually the tmax have higher gears and bigger HP. They make numerous models.

more info here.
http://www.t-maxwinches.com/winches.htm

Warn has the series wound motors. Now lots of others offer series wound.

I am in the market for another winch. Need one for the pathy. No problems at all with the mm8k. Used it 10+ times no issues at all. But the Warns are only $100 more now. So I am looking at series wound.

Thinking about a warn 8k. Just to compare to the MM on the truck.

I have a t-max 9000, It fast. And is very stout. Last year I dragged a dead Jeep honcho up a ravine with it.

I would like to have a warn, but I personally think you are paying for the name.

Just did a spec comparison, The T-maxx has more power at the motor and higher gearing. The speed difference between a 9500xp and the EW9000 is very very small. I think the XD9000 is a better warn to compared it too based on price, and the T-max is much better than that one.

The specs on the Tmax ae very impressive. Machined gears, actual bearings on the motor. Series motors. 172. gearing. 6hp. MAde in Austrailia?

They are more expensive than the Warns.

Warns start at $505, Tmax start at $700 here.

I may have to save up for one of these Tmax winches. Sound real good.

Where? The cheapest I have seen a tmax is $700. I can find a real warn (not tabor) for $500.

Here's my question. which winch is more reliable? Lets say over a 5 year time period.

I've had to replace the switch on my MM control box in less than a year of ownership.

The 9,000 comonly goes on sale for about $450, I bought 2 for $900 from a smaller shop in NC a while back. I cant remeber the name of it though.

Biotree, hard to say long term reliability because they have not been around too long. That said I have had no issues at all from mine and they are a superior winch to an MM or HF.

I have heard alot of different things about these one where they are from. A rep on pirate said the older style was made in china but quality on them was tight, he said that the newer style (all the ones for sale now) are made in Australia. A guy told me saturday that they were made by Warn, but I highly doubt that.

NISSANNUT. U can get a 9000 for 500 including shipping, and 550 for 10,000, and 12,000 for 620 shipped to your door. GO TO SUMMITRACING.com They summit winch is a T-Max winch with a summit Sticker its a fact, No one can say no to that.I just bought one and installed it on my truck (pictures coming soon). On all the solenoid stuff, wires, casing, It has T-max printed all over it. CHeck it out, its a pretty beefy Winch i Am going to test it out this weekend ill let everyone know how it turns out.

Plus the T-max/Summit ew-9000 WInch comes with 172 gearing, 6.6hp motor, Thicker Cable than any other 9,000 winch on the market. I have heard nothing but good things about T-Max I would rather have it than a Warn. I think it also draws less amps.

It draws more amps as it has a bigger motor.
