Hey guys,

Got my new CB this morning... Picked up a Cobra 25 Nightwatch LTD Classic. I like this thing, its like half the size of my old radio.

For now, its mounted up on the roof, but I might reloacate it to the dash, and run an external speaker. For now, this works.

If I get bored, I might research how to tweak and peak it, but for now, **gasp** stock is okay Wink

Here's a coupla shots taken with my camera phone:

I own 2 of those. Both given to me. I like the fact that everything lights up.

In radio shack they sell for like $139-49. Lately I've been eying a radio shack CB that *might* fit in my ash tray.

Cobra has a kick-ass radio which has all the controls on the handset. The base can go under your seat or the dash, it's pretty small. I'm considering getting one, anyone have any experience with them?

Robert has one... I didn't like it very much, and I think he didn't like it either. He will post up.

I have the handheld Cobra, I love it, I connect it up from under the seat and hang it from the inside lights at the middle of the windshield, then when I come off the trials I disconnect it and it goes in the storage compartment until the next trail. I have a magnet mount k40 antenna that I would like to try out instead of the cheapo Radio Shack magnet mount I am using now. But the CB works great. That's my opinion.

I think this is the one Spike was talking about, and I know Robert had/has a similar model. I personally don't like it. EVERYTHING is in the hand piece, including the puny speaker. An external speaker is almost required...

I haven't met a CB internal speaker I liked yet. I'll have to check out GummyBob's when I see him next.

Yep, that's the one I have, got it for $45 at a yardsale. I agree the speaker is not that great but it works fine for the trails. Now if I was a trucker and on it daily, then I would rethink my position.

FWIW:
That what I have, if you never want to MOD, tweak or peak it or have PA then it is a great little radio. Add a wilson 1000 or fire stick and your good to go for "most" normal uses ie trail comunication. Besides it takes up little to no room. Oh and yea you must get an external speaker. I have used a radio shack external speaker and a Bargian(sp) Loud Mouth and they both worked very well. The loud Mouth is smaller and easier to "hide".

The one I had was blue and lit up at night, but the dam speaker went out and all external speakers were to soft for me to hear what people were saying. So I put my Big Boy in and no more problems.

Then it was not the cobra.

Greg, how did you mount that to the roof? Is there an internal (under the lining) support?

Dbax, how well does the Uniden CB fit in that space below your cd player? And do you guys just run the 12volt wired to the battery or splice them someplace?

I pulled down the liner. Then I used Liquid Nails, and glued some 1" x 4" x 12" strips of wood to the roof. Then, reinstalled my liner, and used small 3/4" wood screws to fasten the CB Bracket.

Works perfect. Would highly recommend it Wink

it's a compact unit, i think abot 4.25" across, so it fits really anywhere. I just cut away part of the plate to set it in. what's left is, left, of the CB.
