Who is running what? I am thinking about mods to get after I put in the drivetrain.... Which, if I can work a little OT, will be by the end of this month, or the beginning of June.

I wanted to buy a receiver mount for the winch, so I can use it upfront, or in back. Just need to beef up the rear bumper alittle before I would be comfortable using it for winching. Then, I am going to build a low-profile receiver mount upfront to use when needed.

Anywayz, I know to stay away from the hydraulic style, so that leaves one other type Dork

What brands/model #'s do you guys use and recommend.

Thanks.

I'll second the M8000. Its worked well for everything I've thrown at it and is a fairly inexpensive winch to start with.

The only thing about a receiver winch is that its gonna be HEAVY.. the M8000 is 100lb + whatever cradle you use. I'd try to find a way to integrate it into your front bumper so you wont have to move it around or deal with taking it off the truck after every run.

Good call, I really didn't take weight into consideration. I knew it was relatievely heavy, but didn't know it was that much, lol

Thanks guys.

Warn 9.5ti. I've used it to pull a Rubicon about 50 feet nearly straight up out of a canyon. Just make sure you get one or more Optima Yellow tops at the same time.

I have used both the W9.5ti and the MM12,000 pound winch. I liked them both, but Warn is really a superior winch and if I had the extra cash at the time I woulda got one,

that said however, the 599 i paid for a 12k pound winch was a good deal.

I have the Superwinch EPi9.0. One thing I have to say is.... DAMN is it ever fast and powerfull. We tend to do insanely long pulls, sometimes repeatedly the length of 125' line at a time and it just keeps on going and going. We never had problems with it (there are three EPi9.0 in our group, two with integrated solenoid, one low profile mounted in an ARB bumper). It's quite a bit faster at load than the M8000 other buddy's running.

The only thing about it is that it comes with 125' of line and you have to really watch it spool up so it doesn't get all jammed up in one end of the spool. One of the guys got the synthetic line and it's not an issue anymore.
Synth line is worth all the money IMHO. They're light and easy to unspool. Also when one breaks it just falls to the ground harmlessly instead of taking out people like a steel line would do.

I would suggest a 12,000 or 15,000 lb winch because you never know when you are gonna need the extra pull power. We used Robins on my stuck before and it rocked!
