My CB came in today. Got it mounted below the fadio after dissasembling half the dash. It turned out nice. My PA speaker also came in, mounted that under the hood. Nice and loud. Had some problems tuning in the SWR, but got lucky and it turned out awesome. Right above 1 to right under 2.

Nice job, looks very clean. smiley4
And nice SWR, that should work. If you get a chance still test it with a true SWR meter.

That looks clean man, good job. What pa speaker did you get? I never had a good loud pa speaker, and would like one someday.

You mean you can't go into the parking lot at the local pub and yell "YOU ARE UNDER ARREST!"? Devil I have a little goody that plays different sounds and alarms, sirens etc.. The two best are mooing at fat chicks, and playing the ice cream truck song while going through residential areas. I love seeing kids get all crazy about it, gets some mad faces too. lol

I got a stupid gold speaker off of ebay, they have them at CB Exchange too. It was cheap and its a bull horn design. The only problem is its plastic, might be a problem if it gets too hot.

PA Speaker on EBAY

Thats the same speaker I got. Ill get a pic tomorrow

Got any tips on reducing alternator whine? I assume grounding straps, but from where to where?

Try this earlier explanation regarding a stereo installation. It applies to CB, also (which is AM).

It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

Do I need to ground the case separate from the ground on the power plug? And where do these noise limiters install? Behind the radio?

some install on the power lines, there are filters for the coax(not recomended for this problem). And the case on most Cb does have a ground bot not as good as if you open the case and find one yourself. But if you have grounded the cb to the body already, you don't need to do it again. If you do find out you need to ground something, look to the engian. Find a good case point and run grounding strap to a good ground point.
