i need to find a wire that i can splice into that is a hot wire when the parking lamps are turned on....preferably under the dash but i could always run wires into the engine bay...

trouble is i looked in the engine bay for the parking lamp wires and cannot find em

The 96 HB manual says the front parking lamp wire is pink with a blue stripe. This wire is hot only when the lamps are on.

are the parking lamps also called "left/right front combination lamp"? i think so...blue/red for me....but now i just gotta find it

I'm refering to the diagram in the Factory Service Manual (p. EL-51 for the 96HB). The parking lights, adjacent to the headlights, are pink with blue stripe, according to the book. These are termed "Front Clearence Lamps."

As you have probably noticed finding that wire, whatever color it turns out to be, will be difficult at best as the wiring loom is one hell of a taped up octopus. The best thing to do, I think, and unless someone else has a better idea, is to remove one of those assemblies and splice into the wire near the lamp assy. That's what I did for my reverse lights. Worked great once I found a good ground for the relay.

you popped the corner lights off and spliced it?

that would work...i jsut gotta get it off and when i looked at it, i didnt see any wiring or anything going to the lamp...
