OK, its not really a Nissan project per say, but i thought i'd ask here anyways... i am working on my 72 chevy G20 van, building a DIY dash... replacing all the switches, so i was hoping to learn more about just how few of them work, particularly:
(1) Headlight Switch (2) Winshield Wiper Switch (3) Dash Dimmer on number (1) i was thinking that it is just a DPDT switch (ON-OFF-ON) or (OFF-ON-ON), at least 20A, maybe 30A??? i havent looked yet cuz its cold and wet otside, but i am assumng that there are 2 wires going to the headlamp (one for HI and one for LO) on number (2) i am wondering if i can replace the existing OFF-ON-ON DPDT switch with a delayed-type of a switch, like a potentiometer of some sort... how would i go about that??? How many amps? on number (3) i am guessing i can just replace the original dimmer with a new potentiometer, but i am not sure of what to look for and where... thanx in advance for all help _____________________________________________________________________________ 1995 Pathy with 3"SL, 2"BL, Calmini steering, AC UCAs, Bilsteins, SwayAWay, BFGs, KCs, K&N, Momo, Cobra, Alpine, 2.5" Dynomax, headers, cut out rear floor, roll cage, bed frame |

#1, you nailed on the head.
#2, theres more than just a potentiometer to delay wipers. If you want delay wipers, buy a $15 delay wiper kit from jv whitney #3 I dunno what values of a potentiometer to suggest Why aren't you using all stock stuff? a GM harness is only #400 new, and you get to use all the switches and everything. |

its kind of a fun diy-learning project...
i like building my own stuff, simplifying the design as much as possible... i wanted to use matching switches for everything, and i'd rather use parts i can replace at an electronics store rather than a car-parts place... _____________________________________________________________________________ 1995 Pathy with 3"SL, 2"BL, Calmini steering, AC UCAs, Bilsteins, SwayAWay, BFGs, KCs, K&N, Momo, Cobra, Alpine, 2.5" Dynomax, headers, cut out rear floor, roll cage, bed frame |

also, do i need to wire the ignition switch through a fuse, and if so, how many amps?

Yes you want to put a fuse in, what size got me on that one, I looked at the wiring diag for my truck and it showed a fusible link from the battery to the ign. sw. and the van looks cool. dave 96 4WD reg cab ka24e 3" SL, Calmini Steering soon R180 LSD, H233B Lock-Rite |
