Soooo I've got this 110a Quest Alt just sitting in my garage. I figger its time to install it. I've seen a page, bgaidan? or someones page on the physical install but what I really want to know about is the wiring. Which one (s) do I need to replace to run this alt safely, what ga to use and so on so I don't set fire to my leetle wagon. Help!

Yeah, I recon that 'll do. Now I gotta find some. I'll bet Triangle has it...OTOH Walmart may have something I can make do with in a battery cable.

I know where the wire hooks up on the Alt...where does it hook on to the battery?
(yes I could look, but its hot/humid out and I have no beer)

Really!, It just goes straight to the positive, not thru all those fuses and such?

As for overkill, heh thats just enough Big Grin

Well, I got in there today and discovered I can't get the old Alt out unless I remove my fron (AC) skid plate...thats a pain because its under an ARB. So instead I just plumbed in a 60" piece of 4ga wire I got at my favorite parts store (Triangle Auto at rte 29 and 40...and oh crap the dog, Mallory, that used to be ther died, that sucks)

I put it in some yellow wire loom I have Big Grin and ran it from the positive terminal along in front of the radiator around to the Alt...a perfect fit.

Looks like the stock wire is around 10ga to begin with, whatever its pretty stout.

Man I'm liking my 2" BL more and more!

I'll have to cut off the AC plate in the upper front and then bend the tip to bolt it on to the stock mounting points, then it'll be removable. It was onna just take more time than I wanted to spend on it today tho.

Chug

Very intrusted in the swap . I've got a 95 Hardbody and I want the quest alt. All the how-to I got were no longer available.

I understand for the VG33(3.3 V6) it's a direct bolt on and for our VG30 some wires/pullys have to be changed. Is this true? what is involved?
Thanks,
Brandon

Brian, if you can get a how to done on this, I'd be happy to get it up in our How to forum for future reference.
