If you have center vents in your old squareish dash, check this out.
I pulled the vents out yesterday to look around and of course broke them. The sun hasn't been kind to the plastic bits. So now there's a nice big hole for a panel and gauges! I picked up some aluminum from the bone yard for $1. The gauges will be here by the middle of the week. It's not much to look at yet... The water temp will go up there. I hit my shin on it constantly. Don't get Auto Meter Cobalts unless you want to go blind from the blue backlighting. |

I take it your only going to have a/c out of two vents. What gauges are you putting in the muddle?

You could put some slots in that plate and still have AC from the middle, along with the gauges.

Datz, I thought about that. There's one for fox body mustangs that even has adjustable vents built in!
If I find some plastic pieces to direct the flow then I might do it. I don't use the air enough to really care I'll have water temp, vacuum, and oil pressure for now, with a few inches on the right for switches. The stock water temp gauge will be tranny temp. I cut the panel not realizing that the dash was warped so I'm having to do some cosmetic filing to make it look right. The panel will not be in any way rectangular, but it will appear so. |
