Well, I am going to build a bumper for a co-worker... he rear ended someone, and jacked up his bumper. While looking at his damaged bumper, I noticed a Warn M8000, not hooked up... I asked him about that winch, and he said he's had it on the truck forever, and never hooked it up, and he doesn't have the remote.

He asked what I'd charge for labor, and I told him I'd take that winch for a new bumper plus material cost, and he said cool.

Now, is there anything special about the Warn controller, or can I just fab one up and hard wire it in the dash?

It does need a new cable, so I was gonna swap over the the synthetic rope Wink

Yeah, I figured if I had to buy a remote, and a new cable, I'm really not out that much... and still cheaper than a new winch.

Make sure you open up the box and see if it is a 3 wire or 5 wire controler(Do not go by the female part unless you can see where the pins will connect). I did not know about the difference until I helped another guy wire up his.
Lator....

Find the part number on the Warn web site and order it in.

I ordered a remote for my MM once. When received it was for the hydraulic winch. I had to order the correct remote from milemarker direct. I would find the exact p/n for your winch before I ordered a controller.

Here's a remote on 4wheelparts. There a little pricey.

This HERE is one of THE COOLEST ways to control your winch. I don't know what you're looking at spending, but these are $51 shipped! It's what I have, but have YET to hook it up and try it out. Frown Later....
