Home Depot- 750 watt continuous for 70 bucks( 1500 watt surge) ...Works good to run a coffeeemaker( 660 watt). Has low input voltage shutdown warning( this saves yor battery from "total recall" Big Grin- I mean- total discharge.

i got a 400 watt/800 watt peak one at target for 20$ on clearance. 400watt will handle alot of stuff. so far i have used it to power a 150 watt halogen worklight, one of the big power suckin ones and it worked fine. also a soldering iron but thats no big deal.

Wow, if it's 1000 Watts continous power then Costco's is a killer deal. I use a Statpower 2000 with 4000 Watt surge and it ran 199.00 at a local Love's Truckstop after rebate. That thing pumps out some power. I use a 120 volt 2Hp compressor which pulls quite a bit of power, but airs up tires in no time. I needed an inverter large enough to start the compressor and that's why I ended up with the 2000 Watt unit. Lots of juice to run the grinder and other handy dandy on-trail equipment.

That's a great deal for that amount of juice, Rob. I've priced alot of inverters over the web and that is the best price I've seen, ever. I found some here that are decently priced for comparison. Where's that truck stop? Smile

One thing that i've heard about the more economical inverters, is that they're not very friendly to variable speed power tools. I think that would include the Dremel, Greg. One way around this problem( i've heard) is to put another load on the line at the same time( plug in a "trouble light" w/ a 40 watt lightbulb). SOmehow, that's supposed to make the variable speed stuff work better.
