Sorry for asking another question again so soon but you guys seem to know a lot and I couldn't find anything in old posts. I want to upgrade my stereo system in my 96 Hardbody a little but nothing extreme. I already have a Sony Xplod M610 headunit, 6.5 Pioneers in the doors, and two 6x9 Pioneers behind the seat. I bought a cheap little enclosure with two 6.5 subs and two tweeters really cheap because it was a good deal and has been the smallest I can find. My problem is that it, as well as any other box i've seen, can't be installed without being forced to leave the seat slid up a few inches. Is this the case with all boxes? Have any of you come up with a solution to get around this or do you just live with it?

I built my own box for the CC. But yeah you either live with it or build your own. Well I suppose you could pay have it custom built, but where's the fun in that? Welder

ditch the 2 6s and tweeters and build a good enclosure for the 6x9s if they are a desent set they will sound better than all of them together. Sometimes more is not better, being in car audio for the last 23yrs I have seen this at least 1k times.

don't buy the prefab boxes like they sell at walmart.
build or have a good one built, it'll make a difference.

When I had the bench seat in my standard cab hardbody, I put 2 10's behind the seat. Made the box thin as I could and still have enough air, mounted the amp in a recess between the 2 subs. Don't have any pictures of iut though. I was able to push the seat almost all the way back. Worked for me and I'm 6'1". When I installed the buckets though I couldn't get the seat far enough back. Now I'm down to 1 10 and it's behind the passanger's seat!!!

Try http://www.subsolutions.com they make some great subwoofers and amazingly small. I have one in my 2004 Frontier CC and it fits behind the rear seat with no modifications.

Yea, install is everything. If you do it yourself you can make the most of your space. If you just want a really cheap sub of some sort you could get like a small amp and cheap ten for a hundred combined and it would still be way better than those lil combo things at schucks. Of course I guess it would also cost 5 times as much as the schucks stuff. This is assuming its those 20 dollar grey things im thinking of.

I had the same problem with my 93 Hardbody. I strapped a sub enclosure from a Ford explorer to the back of my bench seat and I mounted two Sony 6x9s in boxes behind the seats. It sounds pretty good and I can put the seat all the way back because of the way the bench seat kinda curves inward. Here's a few pics.

Still think you should look at the Subsolutions Sub, Small but unlike any front firing sub, and produces waves twice it's size.

I have heard gumybob's and have to agree, very VERY nice sound and I highly dislike ported enclosures.
