i've got a '02 frontier sc with the stock 8" sub behind the rear seat. i want to get more power out of it and was considering buying an amp but i was wondering if anyone had tried this with the stock sub. ive heard they don't sound so great when their not in an enclosed box.

i checked out the box they have on subsolutions.com and i couldn't find a spec on what size sub the box fits? im assuming its only an 8".

any suggestions would be appreciated.
thanks

Chances are the stock sup is powered by a stock amp. If you add a aftermarket amp to the sub you will most likely blow the sub. Sub and amp should be replaced at the same time.

Nissan did offer a sub for my HB in 1995. It's a 8' sub in an enclosed box. My truck never came with a sub I found this while surfing the internet.

As for boxes goes. Depends on what kind of music you like. A enclosed box will give you clearer bass and banpass box will give you deeper bass without any clearly. A banpass box is designed for a suv or Van with lots of cabin room. A enclosed box will work best in a truck.

Under "Find" on this webpage, type subsolutions and you will be given a couple of threads to choose from. I have the Subsolutions Sub and love it, currently only pushing it with 100w Amp but it's enough for me. If you want to check out a picture of it installed, click here and scroll down to the last picture on the page.

Replacing the factory Amp with a higher quality Amp, the Factory Sub will sound better, but you will still be lacking compared to replacing both and going with a quality Sub & Amp.

Just my opinion.
