The AC board has a thread about the Marshall Creek area in Texas and a potential land closure. One member was good enough to write a letter. I encourage anyone in that area to copy that letter with their own info and send it in. The cost of a stamp may go a long ways towards saving a place to wheel.

Yeah, the idea is trashy. It's bad enough we don't have that many places to wheel (I can count all of them on one hand, 2 if I think hard enough) without having to worry about it being closed or there be a gate charge. In fact, in my area there are 0 places to go. There were a few but either got closed for development or illegal. The Texas Motorized Trail Coalition is trying to open up more OHV parks here, but the next one will probably land in the San Antonio/Austin area...2hrs from me. Guess thats why I've become a pavement pounder, oh well...atleast my truck takes less bashing.

I agree with pecker. There is only 1 ORV area anywhere close to my house, but its for dirtbikes and atvs. Some of my friends and I take the .45-hour long trip out to lake grapefine for some good LEGAL wheeling. When the lake is town there is some awesome places to wheel including mud pits and dirt hills..i would hate to see that gone.

everyone should send something in. countless people whine and complain when places are closed down, but never do anything to stop it. if these things gain momentum then it won't stop there it will cripple the orv community. If you've never been there just cut and paste this, the more people that disagree with this the better

Dear Mr. Wiese,

I feel it is not in the public's best interest to allow the Town of Trophy Club to enter into a lease with the Army Corps of Engineers. As stated in the Dallas Morning News article the Town will start charging an entry fee into the ORV area to subsidize having to maintain a gated entry.

As you may know, Marshall Creek Park is one of the last legal areas in the state of Texas where the ORV community has free access. We feel charging any entry fee will drive countless people to illegal areas and harm wetlands and wildlife areas.

Please accept this email as my formal protest against any leasing of the area to the Town of Trophy Club.

I also formally request a public hearing before any determination is made to lease the park to any municipality.

I forgot about this. I will send one off this week for sure. I use MC as a testing ground to see if something I have done can handle wheeling. Much better to break down 20 minutes from the house in the big city, than 2.5 hours away out at Barnwell.

Can someone tell me more about Marshall Creek?

Is it considered Grapevine, TX?

What about directions from us75 out of Sherman, TX?

Is it open 24-7 for some night climbing/muddin'?

Should I carry the winch?

How about a site with info on it?

Thanx,

MC is not very challenging at all. It is open from 6-6 usually. It consists of mostly dirtbike trails. It is fun to go mess around on, but nothing special. A big group of us Texans are going to be spending the weekend out at Barnwell OHV park in late October if you want to tag along. I will post some info in the Texas section, or you can go to www.4x4parts.com, and go to the Texas forum and check it out.

I know this is an old post, but...

I just went to MC. $3 to get into a small area. I did get to cruise the entire place. There was only one person there a dirt bike.

When is the next trip planned for Barnwell or ??
