As some of you may know the Tellico OHV area is under attack by a group called Trout Unlimited. TU has threatened to sue the forest service if its demands are not met. Their issue was that too much sediment was being pushed into streams by the trails, and they demanded that the area be closed to OHV traffic. Since then the park closed for the winter and is now open again but some trails are closed for the rest of the year. It appears that Tellico is being pushed around by TU and is closing trails without much thought to the OHV groups that donate time and money to trail maintenance. Its time to the OHV community to unite for stopping this closure as this closure can only open the door for other closures on the east coast. This is a survey put out by the forest service, so far we are being out numbered in responces to the survey. Please fill it out and mail it in, even if you do not currently ride Tellico, a closure here could lead to another closure of public lands that you do use. URE is one of these places.

I am going to do it right by going up there on July fourth weekend. I will fill out as many as they let me.
I really cannot afford to go, but I don't see how I can afford NOT to go.

Maybe we should get a petition going. If people will sign a petition to ban water, they will sign a petition to ban the killing of trout through deception, and then hooking them against their will and removing them from their natural environment.

I personally will be at the We-rock event that week-end in Jellico, and I have a ride this sunday locally. I plan to make lots of copys of this myself and take them to both of those events for people to fill out and mail them myself. It seems that most people will no go through the trouble of printing something out and putting a stamp on it.

The next meeting with the forest service is this week-end. I would be good to have a good showing of letters by then. The TU people spanked us last time by nearly doubling our letters. That does not help our cause at all.
