hey every1! been workin hard and just havent found time to drop in. i really need some help fast, cause i gotta go out of town sunday and i need 2 fix my pathy before i go. ok hear is the problem: about a week or so ago i was coming home from work at 3 in the morn and was doin 70 down a 4 lane with cruise control on and on level road. well anyway i creeped up on this truck real slow, while doing 70, him maybe doin 68. just as i come to his front bumper with my rear bumper, my pathy just jerked all of a sudden. at first i thought that the truck i just passed might have come accross the white line a little and slightly bumped me. now remeber im still doin 70mph on the highway in houston, tx! i just went on. so after im goin down the hwy with no1 in sight, still doin 70, it does it again! now im really freakin! well it didnt do it again till i went to work the next day in about 93 - 95 degree weather. this time it did it like 3 or 4 times in about 1 or 2 seconds!! well then on my way back home that morn it did the 3 or 4 reps that it did on the way to work, but this time i noticed my tach jumpin up and down, im like thank god, a clue! nowit takes me about 45 min to get to work and/or home and it will do this, well at first it was like once home and once to work, now it does it 3 to 4 times in either direction. also when this is not happening the pathy runs great! i even floored it after its done it a couple of times up to about 90 mph and no problems. another thing i noticed is that the cruise control does not shut off. you would think that when the rpms drop to 0 it would, but did not! tonite i notice it did it while i was cruise controling at 50 mph, but this time it did it much slower, the reps this time was still 3 or 4 but it took approx 5 or 6 secs to go through its reps! im thinking three things, 1. fuel pump, but 99.9% of the time they go out like all of a sudden with maybe only a hint as to it failing: 2. crank pos sensor, but again same as above: 3. fuel filter, but would be almost constant and bad drop in fuel milage and power, of which i have neither: also was thinking 2nite that maybe the throtle pos sensor, but rpms would not build up. so please help! hope i gave a good enough description of problem

Not to scold you, but please don't post the same thing in three places.
Whenever I have had symptoms like that it has been loose or dirty wire connectors. Make sure everything is plugged in.
Since the tach is also dropping out, pay special attention to the connections for the distributor, although anything that temporarily kills the engine will cause rpm to drop.
I am experiencing a similar problem right now. I am headed outside in a few minutes to start digging. I will check codes first, though.
Is yours throwing codes?

And please, if you want people to read your posts, take some time to break them up into paragraphs and use some capital letters. My eyes started to cross about 1/3 of the way into your post...

I realize this post is a couple months old but I just have to comment because the EXACT same thing happened to my pathy. It took me months to figure it out. It was one of the plastic connectors on the positive side of the battery.

That would be the fusible link to the ECU. Wink

Um Im not exactly sure where to get some fusible link but im sure something like a radio shack maybe or napa or something. You'll have to cut it to length and splice it in your self if you go the way im thinking. If you do splice in a knew one make sure the link is i believe its 2 gauges smaller than the wire its used with

on the N4W homepage is a listing of sponsoring dealerships that give great deals- like wholesale prices- to N4W mwembers.

Tell them you want the N4W discount and they will respond to your parts query in a day or so.

I dont see any images. All the parts related to the fusible links are under $10 each. May be easiest to stop by a local dealer. Or take a picture?
