i have a 95 nissan pathfinder xe v-6 5speed. i know for a fact that the starting problem is not the fusable link connected to the battery. i am thinking the problem is the fuel pump. how much of a pain is changing out the fuel pump.

ohh yes the problem is that i was driving my truck and it just like slowed to a stop and didnt react when i hit the gas. i dont hear the fuel pump kick on. and all it does is turn over. it did start and ran like it was on really bad gas. i tried dry gas still nothing.

any help would be Great

Changed out the fuel filter? More than likely, you're right about the pump, but the filters clog when not chnaged every so often, so swap a new one in while you're at it.

SInce you're in the rust belt, you might consider a full- blown fuel tank R&R, as I think you have to drop the tank to get the pump out( it mounts to the top). There's an O-Ring that should be changed out, as well.

There're tank sealers( epoxy) that do a good job of sealing/repairing rusty tanks.

NOt saying yours is, but since you'll be downthere anyway, might as well investigate that.

Pull the little inspection cover for the pump, its over the tank on the passenger side under the carpet. Look at the wires and wiggle them, they tend to corrode from salt and time, they should all be firmly attached.
Second, check you computer and make sure its firmly plugged in, I have seen loose connections do that to a running pathfinder. And check the fuse panel for blown fuses.
Third, pull the hose from the fuel filter (Carefully, it may still have pressure) and have a large can ready to put it into. Have some one turn on the ignition, you should have a good stream of fuel, not a trickle.
Like Hillbille said, make sure the filter isnt clogged while you are in there.
Forth, let us know what happens Smile
