I am proud to say I was able to replace the starter on my pathfinder, ( I have 4X4) took about 3 hours. Ended up dropping the steering arm, and sure getting dirty. It is easier to take the wires off the solenoid before sliding the starter to the front of the vehicle. The top starter bolt sure is hard to get off, that alone took about 15 minutes to get a socket on it, the only socket I could get was a cheapy thin 14 mm socket since the tranny and exhaust pipe are in the way.

Extensions my friend. I think I used a 12" and a 3" extension which got me away from the exhaust and plenty roam for ratcheting.
My starter is still kicking. I had to remove it once to perform other maintenance. I did give my starter a cleaning when I had it out. The oil filter does not help the starter out at all.
