I have a 94 pathy 5 speed 4X4 stock. How does one check the idle air control valve? I have the Nissan Shop manual and it explains to take the valve off and check the plunger and spring to ensure it is working freely. I have located the IACV directly behind the Idle Air control regulator (next to the master cylinder is the best way to explain the location). It looks like the intake manifold has to be taken off to access the IACV?? This would be next to impossible, and alot of work to fix an idle issue. I am having an itermittent idle issues where sometimes normal, sometimes 1200 RPM and sometimes 1800 RPM. I have cleaned out the throttle plate already, I am not getting a check engine light indicator. Since it is imtermittent, I do not believe it is a vacuum leak. Anyone got other ideas?
I did check with an ohm meter and found all items within specs. ( Idle Air control regulator and the IACV harness connector (on top of the right valve cover)
After it warms up, this is when the idle becomes erratic. I have already replaced the TPS and the MAP, I got the check engine trouble codes for those and replaced them.
