Does anyone know of anyplace other than Calmini that sells a heavy duty steering system. Calmini is a little too proud of theirs for my wallet.

Here are some pictures of the L&P stage 3 system installed.

Pitman Arm:

It is an excelent system, it is very strong and well worth the money. PLUS, they have a 5 year guarantee. As far as I know, no other company offers any type of guarantee. That right there says something about the quality of this system.

I read a lot of boards b4 buying my stage2, and the Calmini is not as stout. The L&P is the best way to go. I'm hoping to get onit this weekend!

I'm gonna second DR's question...Calmini is not as stout?

I disagree.
I've had the Calmini steering on my Pathfinder for 3yrs, during which it's survived the Rubicon Trail, Hells Revenge (Moab), and countless other difficult trails...never had any steering problems on the trail or on the way home from the trail. The only problem I experienced was with the idler arm bushings, which Calmini fixed at no cost to me.

Not to take anything away from L&P (of which I have no personal experience); IMHO though, I don't think anyone can honestly say that the Calmini system isn't stout enough.

Over at NOR many of the guys (mostly Xterra's and Frontiers) have reported severe problems with the idler bushings wearing out and with Calmini's service.

I've not experienced this problem but if/when I do I expect Calmini to make it right. My system has been installed for over 2 years and I've not had any issues yet. No question, its stout.

OffroadX has the L&P system and it does an exccellent job of fixing the exact problem with the Nissan steering, it may not be as thick and beefy but it works and thats all that matters. I've heard of no issues to date with the L&P system.

Calmini's steering solution is definitely up to the task. Their support seems to come and go. I'm one of the ones that got stiffed on that, 3 months after installation. They questioned my installation (done exactly per instructions) and then told me to turn the bushings 90 degrees to get a new wear surface. I guess after doing that 3 times, the warrantee would expire. Not what I wanted to hear after spending that kind of money.

I'm not ragging on them, that was just my experience. They offer a great product line.

Calmini's system actually addresses the ROOT of the steering problem, and is massively overbuilt. Other than that idler arm bushing issue, it's flawless.

I had it on my truck (one of the early ones from Calmini) for 2+ years and never had a problem...have one on the X now and it also has had no problems.
