I have a 1994 pathy 4X$ 5 speed tranny. Having a bouncy idle, ranging from 750 RPM to about 1600 RPM. Does it always when starting up when the engine is hot (80 degrees outside now)( like after going to store and engine is fully warmed up. It is never a rough idle, just a flucutating idle. Any ideas? I have cleaned the air intake assembly as well as the air control assembly ( where the gas pedal cables go) any ideas?
Thanks,
David

I found out what it was. The throttle plate was gummed up a bit. Took some carb cleaner and cleaned it off. Now it idles perfectly.

The trottle plate, also called the "butterfly" is a round disc inside your throttle body that tilts when you step on the gas to let more air into the engine.

there is about a 8 inch rubberized tube leading from the air cleaner housing to the intake manifold. Take that tube off and then you can see the throttle plate. use a rag and carb cleaner.
