Mine was the same when I bought my truck last month. In fact that's why the guy sold it to me.
At $300 for a complete new assembly I decided to repair mine myself.
After removing it from the tank I removed the pump and fuel sending unit from the assembly.
I sand blasted the assembly to remove the rust.
I cut off the old rusted tubes flush with the top.
I took it to the auto parts and found tubing that was the same diameter as the old tubes.
I cut the new tubes just slightly longer than the rusted tubes that I cut off.
I used my pedistal grinder to grind down the diameter of the tubes and my Dremel with a small grinding wheel to make the holes in the assembly bigger. The idea here was to take equal amounts off the tubes and out of the holes for a length of 1/2" so that they would fit snuggly into each other.
After getting a good fit on the tubes to the holes I used a tubing bender to bend a 90 degree on both tubes like the old ones.
Since my top plate also had a hole in it I cut a peice of sheetmetal slightly larger than the hole.
I installed the tubes and aimed them to the correct side of the assembly and laid the hole patch in place. I then brazed the tubes and the patch to the plate. When I was done I sand blasted everything again. I used a bucket of water and some rubber tubing with clamps to pressure test my repaired assembly for leaks using air from my compressor. I took the time to put a good coat of paint on the assembly before putting it back together to prevent future corrosion.
