My F100 springs have about 8-1/3 coils.. those have 9-1/4 coils.

The coil thickness seems about the same as the F100s.. The steel is probably slightly different, but just with those measurements, They'd definitely lift higher than the F100 springs with little to no chance of dropping them when flexing.

Dangit! they closed 15 min ago! So close!

I believe the f150 coils I have now are 16" and I remember the Rubicons seemed quite a bit longer than that, but they are supposed to be softer. I'll ask them some more specs before I order.

I should also know shortly what the length of a stock ZJ coil is. Depending on how far the upper bucket is from the lower bucket they may be longer giving lift. I think I'd rather have the stiffer rubicon offroad springs though and cut them down then having my back end bouncing down on stuff. The question will be do I go with the 4.5" coil or the 3"?

I am pretty sure I will do 4.5 and cut down if needed. I'm getting so excited. I'll call them first thing in the morning.

ahhh cool, John beat me Smile

That would be cool if you could find a longer spring that was soft enough to give you the lift you want.

Definately no more wiring the coils in, they would just stay put.

Here is another option, I could go with the front coils...Wonder if the would be too stiff. I would think so but then, I do like my for coils spring rate and they are off a front end.

Can't help but wonder if this would put me in the clouds. Don't wanna be too raked Eek

I'm really looking for coils to give me the lift I want but aren't too stiff....you may have found them. The F-250 coils I'm using now are WAY too stiff and everytime I go over anything, it lifts a front tire....definately no good without a front locker! The good thing is the height is enough that 33s don't ever rub and I can through as much weight as I want into the back and they don't sag at all.

I want to have my cake and eat it too! Big Grin Duerk, Be sure to let us know about those coils! I think you may be on to something there.

Well, I am still exporing, I found that the XJ front coils are also the right diameter.

I found that the XJs are using the 79 F150 coils for approx 2" lift in the front.

This is good, because it gives us about 3" in the rear. Soooo a 3" or 4" XJ lift coil should give us about 3"+ of lift. If too much all we have to do is cut coils to shorten if needed.

Another good thing is the XJ coils can be had for less $$ as there are many makers. Rough Country has a 4.5" coil for $115. I may go that option or, they have a 3" coil for even less $.

They said they cannot warranty them for my application so if they don't work on e-bay they go. Anyway, I am awaiting a call from Rough Country and I may order them.

I was looking at Rough Country's too, but their Ford F100/150 2.5" and 4" lift coils. They are about the same price, which doesn't surprise me if they are basicly the same coil.

Well, they are not at all the same, the f150 coils have a much higher spring rate.

The STOCK f150 Coil gives 2" of lift on a Cherokee but it is not any longer, just as it lifts the pathy but is actually shorter than stock springs.

A 3" or 4" F150 coil would put your ass in the clouds.

Well the spacers definatly would not work unless they were bolted in or something. Our spring seats are completely different and if we even can use the XJ/ZJ coils (Not yet proven), the pigtail will have to be cut off. I am going to try some stock zj coils first(this weekend) and get some more measurements before I waste any money.

The ford lift coils would probably work but may put you a little higher than you want to be.

well aware of it being unproven.
how much lift is achieved from the factory f150 springs ?
what u guys are looking for is a softer and longer spring right?

i would asume that if the xj coils fit ok that the tj ones would be the way to go , simply because the vehicle is very light (compared to a ford f150) and the lift springs are generally desighned to let the tj flex easily , and plus u would have a massive selection to choose from.

ps. my neighbour has an old strait 6 f150 parked beside my pathy just rotting away !!!!!! with it's front dana 44 and 9" rear and 33swampers , just rotting away.......

The ford coils give 2-4" of lift depending on variables. What is neet about them, is they have a high spring rate and hold up to a lot of load. I a also like having the stiffer springs so I don't have the back of my truck bouncing down hard on stuff. There is a fine balance.

A tJ may work also, just need all the specs on the springs. I am going to see what some stock ZJ front and rear coils do this weekend and go from there.

Mine are way stiff.. went to a job site today and they rattled my teeth out. I'm definitely putting the F100 springs back in before this weekend. Ugh. Frown

Put it this way.. I run w/ no swaybars.. and the truck corners FLAT with the F150 springs.
