That's running empty....have you loaded up your truck to see how it rides? Makes me think you got F250 2wd springs. Confused

Actually DR, I have a ton of stuff in the back of my truck.. all my tools, trail spares, gear, gold panning stuff, maps, books, etc. Only things missing are sleeping stuff, otherwise its ready for the trail as it sits.

I do know that these springs are way stiff, so I'm gonna put the F100 springs back in. NO biggie. It was worth a try.

I have been pleased with them on the street and offroad, I get a ton of flex. I just wish they were a little longer so they would not pop out, additionally, I want another inch in the rear. I actually like them a lot better than the stock coils on and off road.

So John, what was the height like with those bad boys in? Higher, lower, the same? I bet they were F250 or maybe it is because it was a newer model, I heard that 79' was a good year so that was why I grabbed those. Maybe when I pull mine, we can compare.

Put it this way.. I run w/ no swaybars.. and the truck corners FLAT with the F150 springs

Yep, that's how my Pathfinder drives with the 2wd F-250 coils. Hey, they give one helluva lift to the rear end though Wink....and I don't have to worry anymore about the rear end coming down on rocks as I'm traversing an obstacle. Big Grin Flex....well that's a different story. lol

the lift was a little more than what I had with the F100s.. but not much. Mabye an 3/4 to 1 inch at the most. The truck sits level now. Before, the front was a little taller.

My hilift on the back rattles like crazy going down the street now too. Wink

Well, I tried Factory ZJ front coils today. They are actually a couple inches longer than the factory coils and the ford coils so they are about the perfect length. The problem is, the coils, while thicker than stock coils, they are significantly thinner than the F150 coils.

They give about 1/2" less lift then the Ford coils I have on there now. They are significantly softer so I think they would be even lower under load.

As far as the outer diameter, They are almost IDENTICAL to stock, so that is not an issue.

My thinking is a 3" lift front coils may be a little high, but with a coils or so cut off, they should be about right. I wonder how long stock TJ and XJ coils are???

Well I'll keep everyone posted.

I wonder how they'd compare to the 3" lift coils that Calmini or AC are offering. I changed from the AC coils because the rear of my pathy was coming down on rocks Complain and didn't give me enough lift with a load....I might as well look for some F-150 coils at the scrap yard. I do know these F-250 coils don't give me the flex I'm looking for! Roll Eyes

O.k., here are the pics.

Sorry I forgot to post them last week.

O.k., here are the three coils left to right; ZJ, F150, Pathfinder.

Here are the diameters compared between the ZJ and stock Pathy coils. The ZJ and Pathy coils are almost identicle.(the one with the blue mark is the pathy one)

This shows the thickness of the coils. The blue one is the F150, the one to the right is the ZJ and the one on bottom is the Pathy.

hmmm.. so did you put them in? looks like it would sit at stock height, mabye slightly higher? So were those front ZJ coils?

It appears that we need to pick up ZJ lift springs. Wink

Yes John, I did try them a little over a week ago. They are ZJ factory front coils. Read the post above about my experiance. I think a lift coil will be a little stiffer but longer and still soft enough to flexx like mad.

I forgot to call about the stock TJ coils today. Remind me about it tomorrow.

I'm tempted to steal my bro's coils out of his ZJ and see what I think.

I unloaded everything from my truck today for the big trip to the dealer whenever the time comes. It had been REALLY nose up for a long while. Next thing I know, the back end came up to a tad above level lol

Well I found a set of '03 F150 coils on Ebay. I had him measure the OD of them and they came out 5 3/4" x 14" uncompressed. To big a diameter for us, but it was worth checking on.

Ok, sorry to bring this up from the dead.. but i've searched and couldn't find anything definitive.

I'm looking for results on using Rubicon springs. They're suppose to be stiffer than stock TJ springs. I've read people that were going to try haven't seen anything.

mahalo!

I would like to see some info myself. I was just given a set of stock front coils off of a late model Rubicon. Thanks, Bailey.
