I'm building mine, what's your excuse? My truck hasn't been driveable in 2 years!

BTW, I'm bored, and have been staring at the screen for a while, so if u sense some animosity, don't take it personal.

Your options are truly limited to your budget(more how much your willing to spend), your connections and your imagination bro!

My 94 has the Offroad package and I love the factory LSD on road(especially icy&snowy roads) but it's pretty much worthless for serious wheeling as most wheelers know.

If ya wanna get into some serious fun, I'd reco an ARB air locker personally but it's not gonna be cheap. Around 1K new with an quality compressor not including Labor to install the compressor, diff & drill into the axel. The crappy trade off here is that you lose your LSD(Sell it on feebay).

FYI......I can't stand Manuals for serious wheeling but I wouldn't have it any other way for street driving. The stock HP of the VG wd21 is pathetic and the auto tranny eats up another 21% of it.

Also, I freaking love doing doughnuts with my kids in the truck!

turns out my truck does have the factory LSD Smile
i just need to squeeze more motor out of this thing. thinking of putting in a vg33(supercharged xterra motor) or possibly a twin turbo 300zx motor. any advice?

ya i'm not building this truck to climb over huge rocks/trees and so forth. mostly just so it can handle its own when i go snowboarding and need to drive through tons of snow. not even gona lift it really, just put on some wider tires/wheels. and building around the stock suspension geometry.
i would reallly like more HP tho.

A VG33R is workable in there. But I think a small body lift would be necessary.

A VG30DETT will NOT bolt to the trannys bell housing or any trans that has a trans case option I know of.

In all honesty, if you set a goal for performance, you can certainly get good help on it. The VG30 is a great engine and there are tons of people making decent numbers even when staying normally aspirated. 225-230 is not unheard of but you need a little rpm to get it.

The 300 zx came with a t5 tranny I think it's called, in some models. You can swap a t5 tranny from a standard rig with a standard tcase behind the zx's bell housing. That would give you a zx motor and bell housing, witha t5 tranny and a dana 300 tcase. It's been done.

It's been done with great effort. The Z31 community has all but given up on T5 swapping at that level. I've used lots of internal parts for domestic T5's but know there is a limit to how similar they are.

I could be wrong here, but I don't think that is the kind of work he is looking to do here. Sounds like he wants a simple way to get some more power from the truck and 4wd capability is kinda low on the list.

There is the pic of the setup. The top is the stock unit with the bellhousing attached, the bottom is the t5 tranny with tcase attached. Very clean looking arrangment. This was used with a turbo z motor in a Pathy. I talked to the builder who says it works well and was no more difficult to do than any other engine swap.
