ore trying Steevo's rebuild , you could try adding some SEAFOAM to the crankcase.

I'm not sure how long you want to leave it in for, but it will clean up your engine so that when you change the oil( maybe after 10 -20 miles- see directions on can) it will be BLACK.

Desert Rat did this: put some in his gas tank, some in the crankcase, and some through the PCV.

Hey,

Any update on the Valve Tap????

With all due respect to everyone, some points of intrest.

Lucas makes some fantastic Full synthtetic oil(based on tests I've seen) but I wouldn't touch their Oil Additives with a ten foot pole. You don't need it and I've seen that shit foam up bad.

If you need a good quaity additive to add to a standard Oil like White bottle Valvoline(for example), BG Moa(fantastic stuff) and Marvel mystery Oil are the ticket IME.

Allot of the logic is backward here. You don't want a Higher Viscosity Oil if your having Valve tap. A lower viscosity full synthetic like 5/30 or 0/30 would kick ass. Now matter how cold or hot it is, the Full synthetic is going to flow faster @ startup then a conventional oil.

Fram Oil filters are total garbage. Someone mentioned earlier that they worked @ Valvoline. The Valvoline *House filter* is called Team One and IME is an excellent filter compared to the POS filters they use @ Jiffy Lube or the $1 Filters they sell @ Pepboys.

The Standard Purolators they sell @ Pepboys are a ton of Filter for the money. I've heard allot of complaints about the Purolator Pure Ones have restriction problems with the tight filter media they use. The Bosch Premiums I've run forver(Autozone) are excellent, made by Champion.

I've NEVER had the Lifter or Valve problems I've heard Many VG guys complain about and I think it's because I've run Mobil 1 5/30 with good filters(for the most part) since I've had my WD21.

Good Luck bro.

I don't. My 3.0 had it for 200,000 miles, dad's 3.0 had it for 150,000 miles, and my 4 mile 3.3 has it, all with amsoil/Mobil 1 5w30 in summer, and 0w30 in the winter. It's nothing to worry about, and IMHO, a complete waste of time to tear a head down to try and clean them to fix it. Ticking at startup won't hurt anything, unless you try to hold it at 6k as soon as you turn the key.

Chevy - Good to read you bro. Nice rigs you have.

I run BG 44K(awesome stuff and the only Fuel System treatment worth a shite IME) through all of my vehicles every 30-50K! It's truly awesome stuff worth every red cent. I don't have any affiliation whatsover with BG and their products fuking rock IME. I had a friend who's Turbo Subaru could barely pull a hill last year that runs like new after a can of 44K.

Anyway,

I properly resurfaced my lifters when I rebuilt my top(.262/.430 cams) end and I added Shnieder Springs(PNP'd heads. New Lifters are hardly cheap. This engine will rev to 7.5K but it's a moot point point with the auto tranny(LOL). The only reason I put so much money into this engine is it'll be Boosted powering a 240Z when I get around to swapping a VQ35DE into the pathfinder or I'll swap in a 5 or 6 speed if (god forbid) my auto tranny takes a dump.

Hey thats a thought! Is there a 6spd tranny that will bolt up to a wd21 T-case and engine?
Hopefully have the stick in the same place?

I'm guessing one out of the first 6-spd xteras might. that would be kool to have! set it up with fist as a granny always start in 2nd and drive it like a 5 speed on the street! or gear it normal for better gas savings.

Try living in the south running 0/30 or 5-30. You wont have a engine left.

As fare as the tap goes. Every 4cyl hardbody I've seen/owned has had the lifter tap.

Neither the pathfinder I had or my truck have a lifter tap. However I do have the exhaust header tap.

Everyone has there personal opinions on filters. If you really want to run a good filter. Buy your filter from Nissan, there designed to be used with the engine in your vehicle.
