I did a search on this forum and a few others but could not find the answer I was looking for. So here goes, I have found Warn hubs online for $90. Now this seems low since most places charge $160ish. Since my hubs are auto locking right now do I need an install kit to change to manual? Could this be why there is such a price difference.

Thanks

160 should be for both left and right hubs. You can but new manual locking hubs from Nissan for $100 each. I recommend factory locking hubs since you don’t have to worry about snapping the mounting bolts. No there is not install kit. Only thing you’ll keep from the auto hubs is the snap rung found on the cv-shaft. The manual locking hubs replaces everything els.

Thanks for the reply. I will have to check if the $90 hubs are for the set and not just one, but that woundn't make sense. Here in Portland OR there is a shop that does nothing but nissan and infinity parts so maybe I will check with them for some stock manual hubs

Its because they aren't for a Nissan . They are shipped from a website for all oem parts. They have warn part #20990 listed as the correct part for the 31 spline Nissan hubs. These hubs fit random models of the dana 44 through out the years and are a 19 spline i believe. I even tried to put them on for fun even though i knew they were not right just to give the company the benefit of the doubt You will not get any money back even if you try. I fought with them for weeks until i just decided to keep them for my straight axle conversion i am doing next year.

So the ones listed for $95 won't work my rig, or do I need the $160 with the conversion kit because, my smashfinder has the auto hubs right now

This is incorrect parts. The early v6 (W) D21 have different spline counts on the cv shafts. I think the early cv shafts count 27 spline and the later are 29 spline. I don't remember what year they changed the cv-shafts.

90 and up are all the same. The older ones had less splines but most guys just used the HD manual hubs.
No there is No Conversion KIT to switch. As was said its just hubs and bolts, that is it. Although the bolts that come with them suck, and will break with enough use.
Just FYI, there is a guy in our club selling his Warn Manuals for 100bucks. I can vouch for there condition and they will fit. Just need to ship from Canada. CN4XC.com

yeah, i went to your link those are the same hubs i got screwed on. They wont fit any jap trucks. Go to warns site and type in that part #20990, they go on jeeps, ford, chevy, dodge, ih etc. My pathy has 31 spline outer cv shafts, It is a 90 model . Older i guess is 27 as these guys say.

for piece of mind I recommend a set of Nissan manual locking hubs. You can either order then in from the dealer or find used sets on www.carparts.com.

Hey ya'll,

FWIW I called my Autozones and PepBoys, neither has a manual locking Hub for my 94 Pathfinder. I wanna 86 the *Free-running* hubs and I'm sure I'll end up with the Warn. I've never had a problem on American Axles with a Warn Premium hub.

Will the Warns fit the Stock Alloy *Moonlander/Lego* wheels though?

Yes they will fit, but you'll have to make the hole in the center cap slightly larger.
