since vg33's with low miles can be found so easily and for low prices; I think I'm gonna put a sroker kit into one of those using stock bore to reduce macine cost. and have me an almost new and stroked out vg33. I'm hoping for about 200 hp and somwhere upwards of 230 tq if I do it this way. Thats more power and less money than having my old engine rebuilt, bored and stroked and the total displacement comes out to the same only with more cy sleeve remaining in the 33. I guess now its time to start saving, resarching and bribing buddies to help with the swap. eh?

Hey bro,
If you need more onroad fun power(assuming you have a Manual tranny).....upgrade your clutch and add a 150 Shot of Nitrous. The stock VG engines will easily handle 500ish HP on the stock everything(assuming excellent tune...of course). Anyone that tells you that you'll throw your timing belt or some other BS with a heavy nitrous shot on our engines doesn't know WTF they're talking about. I'd be running a 150 shot but it's not gonna happen with the auto tranny...lol. I love the SOHC VG but I'd never spend the money for a stroker kit.....period. For the same or less you could swap in a monster VQ35DE. Their's VQ's everywhere nowdays that could be had for around $1500.00. A 295ish HP VQ35DE with a 6 spend Z/G35 tranny would f'in rock compared to the anemic stock 153HP vg. I have a VK56DE Nissan Titan engine in my garage(work of art and monster) that I'd love to swap into my WD21 one of these days with the five speed Auto Titan tranny...if it's possible. With full exhaust and the new JWT cams their's guys running 13's(gotta love it) in their heavy Titans. |

I agree Nitrous is easier and allot more affordable but I want to stay n/a and I want my tq to be there all the time, not just when my bottle is full and turn it on.
The stroker kit is only going to be $1,999 I figure that + a $15-$18 hundred vg33 with low miles on it; do all my own work and on a bujet of 5G I'll still have plenty of room for error/ spare parts etc. =================================== mostly stock(for now) '89 Pathfinder XE over 210k and running strong! #1. Nitrous is only good for as long as you push the button...and depending on how long that is, your engine won't be good. There are more reliable ways to get a continuous hp increase. #2. We agree ont he stroker kit, I wouldn't pay for one either, but it's his money. #3. There's no way in hell he could swap in a 3.5 for less. That would require an engine/tranny/t-case/wiring harness/comp/sensors/exhaust/fuel pump/welding in new mounts for everything/probably new driveshafts, and a lot of other things to make it work. #4. Have fun fitting a Titan engine in a HB. 2004 Titan-fairly stock, '89 Nissan sas swap in progress d60/9", 9", 5.43's/arb's, 38.5x16x15"tsls/beadlocks, winch/air, 3.3L |

Hey chevy - good to read ya brother. Nitrous would be for guys that wanna play onroad....period. Decreased engine life running nitrous properly is ALLOT more BS then fact...period. I'm not gonna argue with anyone. The guys that Blow up their engines are Idiots that don't know what they're doing...period. The Timing belt and engine can't tell where the increased pressure/boost is coming from whether it's a supercharger, Nitrous etc. My friend is running a 150 shot just for shits and giggles on his 2001 VG33E Desert Runner. He has traction issues and I'm gonna give him my LSD when I get an ARB Locker(if it will fit).
As for the Titan engine........I can always dream..hehe. It would be f'in awesome in a 240z. I stole it and I've got lots of projects on the Horizon. Need to find the tranny to go with it. As for a VQ swap......it's already been done...period. Nothing done properly is cheap...eh. Back to the subect of a storker kit, a longer stroke is going to rev slower and the money IMVHO would be MUCH, MUCH better spent on building a VG34E with the stock stroke. Overbore a stock VG33E, add Infinit Q45(VH45DE) pistons(that will need new valve cuts) or BRC custom forged pistons would be nice and all the bolt ons, Russ Cam gears, JWT ECU or Greedy E-manage, cams, Headers. etc. etc. This engine will make as much power as a Supercharged Nissan Factory VG33R. Actually, more with the Russ Cam gears and proper tuning. Anyway, My time is valuable like many here and I don't waste mine or others. I'd spend the money on a VQ swap(personally) Long before I'd stroke a VG. Again, a VG34E build with higher compression pistons(Keeping in mind that 10:5-1 is as much as the stock heads will probably take) would be freaking awesome. To each their own. |

The new displacement the stroked vg33i on stock bore would be 3.5L the low-reving low-end torqe design is what I'm looking for.
check it out; Displacement Caluculator vg33i stock/stroked: 83mm/89.4mm bore:91.5mm I already have headders but Coustom pistons (which come w/ the stoker kit), Cams, Cam Gears and an ecu (thats oriented towad an engine modded for high revs) all that in addition to paying to have my cylinders bored and I think I'm @ the same $$$$ or more than my stroker kit. oh yeh and the whole EFI conversion to make a vg34e would also cost money Maybe I'm missing something but I thought the point of a stroker-motor was to have shit-rediclous-troque and a flat troque band out of a low-reving motor. Does this "vg34" provide the same with enough ease (compared to "vg35i stroker") that I can sitll do it in my driveway over a few weekends? =================================== mostly stock(for now) '89 Pathfinder XE over 210k and running strong!
