The VG30 is from Richards pathy, Its complete and runs good from what I am told. You can have it for less than $100 if you want it. The super cool hood can go with it too along with whatever pathy parts I have left up here.

Pm back at ya

Well I got off home from class at around 12 and seeing how nice it was outside I decided to do as much work as possible becaues it looks like the week-end will be crappy weather.

I first pulled the rear suspension from the CJ-5, the next hardest part was getting everything into position under the YJ. I decided to change the geometery a little also. The upper link mounts are done, just need final welding to the frame. The lower link mounts are just started, and I will make them double shear next time I work on it. I just wanted to get the Jeep rolling tonight. The pics are also at expected ride height. I want to have it wheel able at least the week-end before the first comp.

Still left to do
Hook up propane
Finish lower rear mounts
Fully weld motor mounts
Finish skid plate
Get 12v power to fuse box
Make a radiator mount
Get a new brake line made that I broke
Get coil-over/air shock towers built
Put together hydro steering.
Rear sway bar-winch.

Got another week-end pounded out on it, the front is ready to go minus one link mount. The rear link mounts are all done and the rear frame is 3/4 done. I had to quit today to go to school for a little while so I didnt get much done today.

I tied the rear frame into the main cage hoop, and it will be tied in again at the back. I had to build the cross bar in because the shock mounts and rear tie in will be built off of it. Tube work just takes so damn long to me, its hard to get motivated to do it.

I didnt do alot to it today, I spent most of my time getting rid of the CJ and getting the rest of my stuff off of it. I did get most of the other propane componets installed though. Here is where it is at now. I think I will add another brace to the shock mount, there is a little to much of a span across that tube to take the abuse I will give it.

The CJ went to someone else who had a very rusty tub, it will be on the trails again! I gave it to him for free and he about pissed his pants he was so excited about it, I think it was in better shape than he expected.

do you notice any unloading when going down hill with those air shocks? are they 2.0 or 2.5's?

Not so much as going down hill, they would unload a little. Not ever a whole lot though. Trying to back up a hill would really unload them though. I love them though, I sold the coil-overs today to get another pair for the front. I will be using suck down winches on this one though. I use the 2.0 sway-away. They are quite abit stronger than the 2.0 Fox or King and will support almost twice the weight.

Today, I got most of the interior finished up. I have a Lokar shifter on the way so I will do that hopefully this week. I also got the tranny skid done but the camera dies before I was able to get a pic of that.

Still waiting on the new air-shocks, but I did get some more progress done. The rear suspension is done, and ready to go. I did to a pretty lame job on the rear suck down winch and I will probly have to re-do it.

I also think I have sold these tires and wheels so I am on the look out for some new rubber. I am looking for some BFG reds or Creepy crawlers in a 40, Iroks in a 42 or bogger in the 44. Need to be for 17", 20" or 16.5" wheels so if anyone knows of any at a good price, let me know.

Heres the pics from yesterday.

.5" ground off the bottom in this one already. You can see how big the pinion is in this one.

Clearance is about .125"

Welded inside and out

Complete!

I gained just over an inch of clearance in all this. The welding process I used was just something I have tried before with good results. I got a big propane torch and heated all the welding area up to 800 degrees. Then I weled it using high nickel rod in AC. I kept the torch going on it full blast the entire time and I peened it good after each pass. After I was done welding it, some of the housing was 1,200 degrees so I kept the torch on it full blast until it came down to about 800-900 and it was fairly even. When is got down to that point I turned the torch down to an idle and let the housing come down to about 450ish and then I killed the torch and let it sit for a while. During this time I ground the surface down flat. When is was completely cool I clean it well with a water hose and then put some heat on it quick to get the water out. Then I filled it up with oil and put the cover on it. Its been about 24 hours now with no sign of a leak.

I got the Lokar installed friday, its already a big improvement but can anyone tell me how your supposed to set the de-tents. It feels kinda odd. You have to push the button to go from park to reverse, but dont have to push it to go back to park from reverse. Then you have to push the button again to get into Neutral and again to get into drive. You have to push it to get down into first also. Then you dont have to push the button to go back to nuetral but it will lock itself into nuetral from there.

I ended up spending the day swapping the CJ front end on. I just couldnt figure out a way to use the YJ radiator without a complete hack job on the hoses. I re-did the x-member for the rear winch pulley. The rear winch is working good now. I got the front d-shaft welded together again and the front winch is set up to suck down too. I will load some pics up tonight.

I really need some manifolds for the 4.3, does anyone have some that will let me trade my headers for them?

Still waiting on the airshocks, I might start a bad sellers thread on pirate soon.

Edit, only one of my pics kinda came out.

Took a big ding to the wallet today buying new tires. 39" BFG red labels, 4 rides on them. Should last me a while. Here is also a better pic of the rear winch set-up.
