The SLC Hemi Brute (Screamin Lizard Customs) got crashed this past weekend. This is the buildup thread from jeepforum.com and also has pics of the aftermath of the offroading incident.

Man, where will they ever get another jeep body to fix that one with? It's a sad day any time a rare classic like that gets totalled.

They'll get it from AEV. Based on what's been said on the net, the force of the impact and roll actually kinked the frame. Looks to me like they'll have to start over with a new donor vehicle. On the other hand, the AEV engineers who designed the Brute conversion should learn a thing or two about how their chassis extension design did or did not hold up. Thing had a seriously built 5.7 hemi in it and apparently went WOT (drive by wire). Driver plowed a tree to try and stop it, bounced off and rammed the white JK, rolling both vehicles.

Sorry for the sarcasm, I couldn't help myself.

They built it once, they can straighten the frame and fix it. That's what happens when you take a show truck on the trail.

What's sad is that he took out another rig when his show truck failed on the trail.

What's really sad is I wouldn't even call driving through Texas forest wheeling. Could have as easily happened on a highway or an intersection with fatal results.

So, the real question is why did the drive-by-wire malfunction? I wonder if others get to look forward to that as well?

I'd guess it was an installation error. I've never heard of any factory Hemi's failing WOT because they have throttle by wire.

I'd guess they didn't route the wires right and something shorted out sending the WOT signal to the computer.

The only advantage of throttle by wire is traction control. I can't imagine they bothered hooking that up in their jeep so I have no idea why they didn't convert it to a standard cable operated throttle when they did the swap.

I know I'd be pretty pissed off if someone rolled my truck because they lost control of theirs in something that was directly caused by modifications they did on their truck.
