The T813s are the previous generation of 8x8 vehicles and are a lot cheaper.
You can get them for around $15,000-20,000 in Europe. Since they are more than 25 years old, you can import them with no hassles. They made tons of them, so there are a lot just sitting. They are street legal and are rated to carry and tow up to 200,000lb of payload. The only down side is that they get about 4.5 mpg, but with a vehicle that big, its amazing it isnt being measured in gallons per mile. The engines are air cooled. Each cylinder is a unit construction and can be removed individually. Makes over 1000ftlb of torque.

I want to build one from a dodge 1 ton cummins diesel, and make it a 6x6. This should be easy if you build the body like a box (sheet metals and etc..).
