Wondering if I could get some opinions. Anyone know anything about Mitsubishi pickups? A 1988 mighty max to be precise. I guess it is really ugly, but he only wants $700, which is perfect for me. Only thing is he says it likes to pop out of 1st right when you are starting, after that it is fine. Any ideas what that could be? 165K on the clock, so is it all used up? Don't know anything about these things, so any advice would be appreciated.

Also looking at an 89 toyota, stake bed, 130K, but $1700, whih might be tough for me.

I think the toy is better, but I don't know if I can afford it, but I also don't want the mighty max to blow a tranny right after I get it.

And they are both dark brown. sweet.

The engines are crap. Had a 1987 Mazda 4X4 with a Mitsu engine. The emission valve stuff regularly failed and caused massive corrosion and at least one broken head gasket. Offer him $300.

Damn, every car I want sells before I can even get to look at it. The Mitsu sold, so I am going to look at the Toy at lunch. Hopefully it is still there. Both Acuras I was going to look at yesterday sold before I could get there. I guess I could look at the bright side, that it means I am looking at good cars. But damn, that's frustrating. Just keep looking. My brother found an '82 Mazda pickup for $500 that only had around a hundred thousand on it, good shape and very dependable. He had to look for quite awhile to find the deal, but it was there.

Thanks for advice, but, I couldn't find a pickup that was in good enough shape for me to want. So I ended up buying my friend's 86 Honda Civic CRX. It has 212K on it, but new timing belt, head gasket, tires, shocks, brakes, etc. Only paid $800 for it, and since I know the car, and the last two owners, I figured it was better to get something I knew a little history on. Knowing I am not buying someone else's problems (or that I at least know about them and they aren't a big deal) is great piece of mind.
And it gets 38 mpg. So, driving 34 miles a day, it should save me close to $100 a month on gas and only adds $30 a month to my insurance. It should pay for itself in under a year.

I want one too... would be fun to throw a driveline from an Integra GSR into it. Hell, even a B16A J spec engine would be fun. Wink
