That's funny.

The tires on my mountain bike seem to hold up okay. Wink Stockers on a Specialized Rockhopper.

is that what vendor recommends?- damn that's rich.

Can you say carbon Wink? I think many motor manf's are biased towaRDS richer mixtures, but I've seen no ill effects when running leaner
( w/ quality oil, of course).

I just ran some premix- wacking weeds- I used 1/3 cup of oil in 2 gallons of gas.
I 've run it richer, but piston got gummed up at 50 :1.

Yep, thats what vendor recommends for gallon of gas. After that, they say 25:1 is ok. You gotta remember the tolerances are pretty awful in these Chinese engines, so they need the oil to keep them alive.

Almost done with it. here is the bike after tonight's work:

Painted the engine low gloss black. Super stealthy!

Got the controls installed. Adapted the throttle to allow use of my end grips.

Dual pull brake lever on the right hand:

And clutch on the right hand. There is a lock on the clutch so you can lock it engaged to allow normal pedaling of the bike.

Engine is all low-gloss black. Its almost invisible. I left the carb uncoated to allow ease of maintenance.

Here is the chain cut to length and installed. Also installed the tensioner. I'll probably come up with my own ball bearing tensioner design. This one doesn't look like its going to last very long. I may end up turning an automotive idler pulley down on a lathe to allow the chain to run on it and mount that on my own tensioner bracket.

The motor mount turned out perfect. There's over 1/4" clearance between the chain and the rear engine mount.

John,at the rate that motor will drink fuel, you could use
WinkWHere you put the fuel hose- front or back - is up to you.

Are the motor mounts "solid" or is there some rubber cushion between the mounts and the frame tubes?

I did have some rubber bushings in there, but the motor ended up sitting much too high in the frame, so I ended up solid mounting the engine.

I ordered one of these to make into a gas tank for the rear rack:

I can cut it down to hold 1/2 gal, add a vent, fuel feed from the bottom, and some mounting studs and it will be a pretty cool little tank (and not nearly as obvious as the top bar mounted teardrop tank that came with the kit.

Got it running and tuned tonight.. Its a lot of fun to ride! It wont start out from a dead stop on its own, but the top end is pretty nice on it.. at least 25mph, mabye more. Thats faster than I want to go on a 15 year old MTB.

The solid mounted engine isn't a problem with the cushy seat. You can feel it a bit in the handlebars though. This thing has plenty of torque to run up hills at speed too, so I'm happy.

I think CAMINI sells crawler gears Wink or at least your local M/C shop will have a bigger back sprocket.

I ripped that hybrid scooter all around the neighborhood, including passing or being passed by cops, never an issue. Surely you remember how obnoxious that thing was.
