Well I am biting the bullet and buying a 02 TJ X wth 33,000 miles on it.
It's already lifted 4.5" with a rubicon express lift. It has 4.88 gears and 37" gumbo muds on it and it has a custom rear tire carrier bumper.
Also included with it is a slip yolk elimatinator kit and front and rear quick lock lockers. He is also including a extra set of 37" gumbo muds and the old suspension from the jeep.
All this for $9000. Yup 9 g's can't pass it up he has too many toys and can't afford to have it. He has a new toy anyways a 05 Rubicon Unlimited.

That's what I'd like to know. The 'X' model comes with a Dana 35 rear end. I hope that the previous owner was smart enough to swap in an 8.8 or a 44. A standard 35 with locker and 4.88 gears is a ticking time bomb with 37" Rubber

Ya it's got a D35 and a open diff for now.
He is giving me both the quick locks in a box so they aren't installed yet.
37's are a wee bit big for those axles I plan on likely taking the 35's off my yota and putting those under the Jeep.
Then putting the 37's under my yota because I know those axles can take it. Razz
That's the plan for now.
Maybe adding some extras to the jeep like a snorkle and a winch while I have the money for it.
I would realy like to keep the yota but I know what the wife's answer will be we can't have 3 vehicles.

Honestly man, I'd take the money for the winch and snorkel and pick up a Super 35 kit. It upgrades the D35 to 30 spline shafts and a detroit locker. I had a 2003 X with 35's and people wouldn't wheel with me. I ultimately traded it in on my 05 Rubicon. With the added low end that the 4.88's are giving you I wouldn't be suprised if you snapped a shaft flipping a u-turn on the street.

I'll probably do the super 35 either that or see if I can score a d44 somewhere.
I am still waiting on the loan although I was told it was approved already but hopefully will know something by the end of this week.
I am still going ahead and still doing mods to the toyota.
I plan on still doing a 5mge I-6 swap on the yota so that should begin when things get slow at the shop.

Well alot has happened. I had to reapply for the loan. After about a week I get a answer back I find out I am getting laid off from my current position because typically work January - March is slow so no customers coming in for work.
So I was unemployed.
I was job hunting last week and now I have a new job doing the same stuff also being a mechanic and more money per hour.

I still kinda want this TJ but if I have a car payment and loose my job having a car payment over your head really sucks.
I might still get it.
