Pretty nice work truck. Are you self employed? If that happened to one of our Superdutys, they would write a report, slap a new tire on it, and be done. Then again our trucks have a govt tag on them.

That's my own personal truck that I've had to use for work purposes. From now on though, my work is going to have to rent me a truck to use out at the job sites. They said they are not responsible for damages to my own vehicle, even if I am on the clock and using it for work that I am told to go do, and even if the damage is a direct result of the highway travel I have to do.

I contacted General Tire and they are sending me a claim packet, so I have a chance of them covering the damage at least. My insurance will pay for it, but I really dont want to risk raising my insurance rate because of something that happened while on the job.

Years ago I delivered pizza in my own car. When my insurance agent found out, she told me that I was not covered while working. Also that the employer is responsible, but good luck getting them to pay.

you might want to read the fine print of your insurance policy, many do not cover "commercial use". Driving to a jobsite on the clock would count as commercial use according to my policy and Id be SOL, if they found out that is.

My insurance has no problem covering it. I have it insured as a work vehicle and told the claims lady that I was working when it happened. Its just that if I can get General Tire to cover it, thats even better, as my insurance wont go up then.

Sure glad you are OK.

I've never had my insurance increase because of claims. If your does, sure hope General Tire admits their liability and helps with the finances.

Enjoy the ride,
Ben

Called the body shop this morning and they said that they are putting my truck back together right now and it should be done by this afternoon. Big Grin

They are just cutting the exhaust off it so I can put an aftermarket system on and giving me about $700 to apply towards the exhaust. Smile Work is paying my $500 deductible, so I'll be able to put the exhaust money toward some centramatic wheel balancers and new 4" exhaust.

I'll need to go have the new tires mounted and balanced and I'll be good to go.

I think commuting in the Ford, with diesel cheaper than gas right now, will actually be a lot cheaper than driving the pathfinder.

I drove a chipped SD with a 4in straight exhaust a couple of years ago. That thing was QUICK! The open exhaust really lets the turbo spool up fast.

I called the shop yesterday when it was supposed to be done and found out that they are still waiting on an electrical harness for the trailer wiring. So, I'll be picking it up this afternoon instead.

Today I am going to call Centramatic to order a set of dynamic wheel balancers. They are about $200 for a set of 4, but will keep the new tires perfectly balanced throughout their lifetime. http://www.centramatic.com/

Then I'll be ordering up a nice turbo-back 4" exhaust system. Should all be here by next week so I can get it all installed.

Just ordered the Centramatics. $208 delivered to my door for a set of 4. Should pay for themselves in tire costs for many years to come. They are compatible with both 8x6.5" & 8x170mm bolt patterns, so I could use them on most any 8 lug trucks. I'm planning on getting a set for the Pathy too!!

Also ordered a set of magefine filters from here: http://www.emergingent.com/magnefine/order_page.htm
Got the Magnefine for my tranny line and the Forcefield filter to stack on my engine oil filter. I figure magnetic removal of ultra-fine ferrous particles is a good thing. It should help reduce wear in both the engine and tranny. The Magnefine would be nice for the Pathy too.
