Did a bunch of research online and ended up going with some 285/75-16 Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors for my Ford F250 Superduty.

http://www.goodyeartires.com/goodyeartireselector/resul...mrktarea=Light+Truck

These tires are Load Range D rated at 3305lb per tire.

The tread is pretty aggressive. It is a cross between a mud terrain and an all terrain. The lugs are very deep too. Apparently these have the same Durawall sidewall protection that the MT/Rs have, but also have Steel and Kevlar belted tread. They hve 2 steel belts and 3 kevlar belts.

After lookin at them, these would be great tires for wheeling if someone wanted something a little more durable than a BFG A/T. I havent been able to cut a sidewall on my MT/Rs yet.. if these things are just as good, they would rock offroad.

Walmart wanted $245 each for these tires. I shopped around and got Discount Tire to sell them to me lower than their own price at $160/tire. Smile

Was looking a little further into their site.. Goodyear really stands behind their tires. Check this out. This is part of the standard tire warranty package:
quote:

Off-Road Assistance — We'll Lend Ya' a Hand Well Beyond The Paved Road.

We have you covered with emergency tire service, on or off the road, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year in the United States and Canada, for 2 years after the date of purchase of your Wrangler featuring SilentArmor Technology tires.

Simply keep your Wrangler Utility Package folio in your glove box and telephone the toll-free dispatch number provided to receive assistance. In the event of a flat tire, a qualified service provider will replace the tire with your inflated spare. If you do not carry an inflated spare and a tow or other services are necessary, you will be solely responsible for any charges incurred.*

If you find yourself stranded in difficult terrain such as mud, snow, sand or ice, off-road towing (winch out) will be provided. This towing service will depend solely upon safe tow truck access to the vehicle location, as determined by the tow provider.

To ensure prompt dispatch of service, please have the following information available:

* Account number
* Date of tire purchase
* Your VIN (vehicle identification number)
* Description of vehicle – license plate number, make, model and year
* Your name and telephone number you are calling from
* Location of vehicle – street address and/or nearest cross street

Show your card when requested, and Goodyear's off-road assistance representative will replace your flat tire or provide a winch out at no charge.

NOw, I have to say up front that I own GOODYEAR stock. Have for a few years now. Like everything I've bought( almost) it tanked after purchase so it pains me to Complain aBOUT their gaurantee.

The way that reads, they give you a winch out but you eat the tire... SOunds harsh< i'm sure it couldn't really be that way, but you never know.

The other caveat, is you have to wait around while someone show up to change your tire. And if you don't have a spare you're up shiite creek when it comes to the charges.

I guess some people could take advantage of it, but how many 4x4 wreckers will GOODYEAR contract with( or will be available nearby to winch you out)?

NOw, the fact that they stand behind the tire structurally failing , for whatever reason, smiley34is a good thing.
