I have a '99 Frontier V-6 4X4 and 170,000 miles and my power steering pump is making a grinding noise. It sounds like the bearings are bad because it turns my 31 X 10.50's just fine and does not make any noise while you turn the wheel.
Is it worth trying to flush and fill with new fluid in case it's not a bearing or just replace the pump? The cheapest pump I found was $102 for a remanufactured one or $225 for a new OEM. Anyone have experience with a remanufactured pump? Also, any tips on replacing the pump? It looks like it will be a pain to change. Thanks for any help. |
