Ok guys Im out of ideas here and your help is needed Big Grin

Now that its getting colder and colder outside everytime I start my pathy and try to rev it up itll start backfiring Mad

Did a tune up few weeks back and I think I did everything that Im supposed to. Changed plugs to NGK Vpower and gapped it at 0.32..New caps and rotors..new fuel filter(oem) ..new pcv valve(oem).
my pathy runs worse now after I did all this. This is really puzzling me. Before I did all this I can start my truck in 20 deg weather and not even warm it up and itll go but now I have to warm it up for a good 5 mins and even that itll still sputter when I give it gas for the first few blocks.

Does it clear up and run right once you get it warmed up? It could be the chts then. If not, I'd go with plug wires as Tomas suggested.

Does it run right once the engine is fully warmed up? If it does, it's probably the chts. Otherwise I'd check your plug order as Tomas suggested.

did you put them on in the same rotation?

what i mean is take the dizzy cap off and crank it to see what direction it turns then compare your timing with the direction.

if you did everthing right then there should be no problem.

also what is the milage ?

is it time for a new timing chain or belt??

Im a bit confused on the rotation part Tom. I put the rotor and cap the same way I took the other one off.

Im going to check that also,If I take the dizzy cap off and have somebody crank it would the rotor be turning clockwise or counterclockwise standing in front looking at it?

The pathy has 82K on it. Ive been planning on replacing the timing belt also but I wanna make sure that it is running properly before I do the TB replacement.

Upon checking it earlier my number 5 plug wire is loose.Im going to have to pinch the ends so it snaps on the plug tip.

Thanks for your quick reply

that is what you will find out when it is cranked ..

you must discover whitch way it turns and then make sure you have the wires on ,in time in that direction...

Ok I think Im following what youre saying now Tom. Looking at the cap numbers from top the rotor should turn counterclockwise.

It starts form 1 then 2 and so on going towards me

Heres a more detailed illustration.Im also going to re check the plug wires on the rotor and make sure it goes to the corresponding spark plugs.

This was taken before I changed my wires to NGK

I put it on counterclockwise 1-2-3-4-5-6 on the cap as shown in the pic above to the corresponding plug which is 1-3-5 on the left side passenger side and 2-4-6 middle under the plenum
