Anyone, I was over at David's house this afternoon and we installed my R200a in his Xterra. He had also installed a H233b out of a yard in his rear last night to match the gears in my front (4.6's). At least we are pretty sure the rear is a 4.6.

He took it out for a test drive a little while ago and he says it pulls hard to the right, and feels like its driving over bricks when in 4-wheel. This only happens in 4-wheel drive. 2-wheel is fine.

Just to note, the reason we installed my R200a is because he literally exploded his R200 this past week. Not sure if anything else was damaged but this is the first time he has been able to put it in 4-wheel drive since that time. He also has a bent tie-rod, I have given him my stock ones so he does have a replacement.

I was thinking there is something wrong with one of his CV Shafts but how can we determine that. He doesn't have enough jacks to put the truck up in the air, e-brake will not hold the rear's locked good enough, and he is wanting to drive to Washington tonight.

Any suggestion or help would be appreciated, his cell number is 425-773-8111.

Does he have auto hubs? Did he kill a hub?

I'd also check the gear ratio in the front. The driving over bricks part - if he's got 4.90s in that rear, the front wheels are turning faster and something's gotta give...namely, the front wheels will have to break traction to get happy again.

Not much else it could be on the front drivetrain unless he's got a busted halfshaft joint.

what was that H233 out of?

I got his 4.9 H233b out of his X, he got another H233b from a yard that was susposed to be out of an X also. The yard told him it was 4.6 gearing... Is there any way to tell on the axle itself what the gearing is? That would suck if he got another 4.9.

I was thinking a broken halfshaft, but why would that pull to one side....

A busted auto hub, now that could be causing a issue on one wheel and maybe pulling to that side, also causing the brick feeling.

I will call him and see if he can check that... by the way, how can he check for a broken auto hub? He does have my spare Warn Hub.

If both H233's are from an X then they are probably both 4.9. That would cause the "driving over bricks" feeling due to the front wanting to turn at a different rate than the back.

He claims the VIN the axle came from confirmed it was a 4.6...

If anyone has time to call him in the next few minutes, I am sure he would like the advise (how to check auto hubs? how he can check his CV's without lifting the entire truck (remember he has my R200 with the Calmini LSD). Or anything else he can check. Or text him tomorrow morning (although I know he wanted to leave for Washington tonight).

hey guys,
thanks for all of your help bob and every one.
The VIN on the Xterra that i got the used axel out of, We called Nissan at the parts yard to confirm the axel ratio, they said it was a 4.6.
they bent tie rod has a lot to do with it belive it or not.. it was a lot more bent than i thought. when you looked at the truck from the front she almost looed cross eyed. so i swaped out the tie rod with the new. and its not fixed, but better. there isnt as much of a pull but still a bit bumpy not as bad thought. maybe it just needs a proper allinghment? these AZ rocks and my heavy foot might have messed it up. but any ways. im taking I-5 up to WA. if any of you live along I5 the way im going and you see a silver lifted X with WA plates on the side of the road... feel free to pull over and help me out!! :-)

You definitely need an alignment then, or you'll chew up your tires badly.

and let us know when you get there.

I was thinking about your front diff that exploded. That should have been about the last thing to go (other than your transfer case), you might still have done something to your CV Shafts or your auto hubs. And get your steering upgraded ASAP.

And let us know when you get there.
