I have a question: during the teardown while putting a new timing chain on my 1995 Nissan with the 4-cylinder engine, I split the crank pulley and the harmonic balancer, which has a couple of V-grooves for belts on it.
I didn't mark the two pieces so they would go back together in the same orientation, and I noticed what appeared to be balancing holes drilled into the crank pulley. Does anybody know if the crank pulley is balanced on its own, or is the assembly of the crank pulley and balancer balanced as a unit? I'm hoping I don't have to worry about this issue. Thanks. |

the motor is internaly balanced and should be good without the oe crank pully, they put the balancer on there as a backup.

That's the theory , anyway.
