I put a little bit too much force on the sensor and stripped the threads. It's secure but leaking enough to be a problem. smiley42

The sensor for the stock gauge is right next to the coolant temp sensor. So I think I'll JB Weld the CTS hole shut, then drill and tap the other one for the CTS.

Or does anybody have a better idea? A new outlet neck is about $50 and it looks like a real PITA to change.

this is on the 92 btw.

I would definately try the JBweld or other metal epoxy. It should work.

Thanks Brent. I'll let you know.

I'm taking it with me to work tomorrow where it will sit until I have time to fix it. Maybe Friday.

I'd like to take the neck off but there's an old crusty hose attached to it behind the timing cover. I'll never get that crap back off without cutting the hose. Heck there's a bolt holding the back side timing cover that's threaded into the neck. Damn them.

You could tap the CTS hole for a tapered pipe plug and then install in the other sensor hole like you mentioned. I'd stay away from JB welding it closed. A pipe plug would work better and would be more permanent.

The other thing you could do is tap it out larger and then get a pipe reducer to go back to the original size.

I drove it to the shop right after my last post. Luckily, none of this matters Big Grin The sensor broke, so the threads are fine. A new sensor will be delivered to me tomorrow Wink

Nice to here good news. It really sucks when you have to get out the tap and die set.
