Okay well I will be installing my New T-max EW-9000, Winch Next weekend with two other guys. I Want to make the winch as light as possible since we dont have a hoist to help hold the arb in place. I was wondering if i take the cable off(and 30 pounds with it) Will i be able to re install the cable on the drum while the arb is on the truck? By the way this winch is pimp

Thanks for the future help

Should be a pretty straight forward re-spooling.. Bolt on the end link, then slowly wind it on. Smile

If it has tits or tires, you're gonna' have problems...

Does anyone you know have a engine hoist? I used a roll around type with my arb.

When re-spooling the winch make sure you spool up the cable tight. Best way is: hook the cable up to a tree and pull in the cable. Without tension being applied to the cable you are not going to spool the cable tight enough.

Tight spooling keeps your cable from getting pinned on top of one another.

I had someone sit in my truck with the brakes applied while I spooled my cable in. I believe Warn says you should have ~500lbs of tension on the cable when you spool it up. They don't come that way from the factory either, you are supposed to unspool and respool them before you use them.

I used a car, with the emergency brake partially set. Wayyyy easier to keep even tension.

+1 on pulling a vehicle towards you. If I used the winch at the end of a run we'll usually find a empty parkinglot and just pull one of your wheeling buddies toward you with the winch and their e-brake on slightly.

Having it spooled on correctly will make things much easier on the next run.

Also, for those with a new winch you need to re-spool it tightly before first use.
