Sorry, couldn't resist.

For the VG30E, if I understand correctly, the seal is one piece and is installed in a retainer that is then bolted to the rear of the block. There is also a paper type gasket for the retainer. I think someone recently posted pics of an install, maybe Datz. I've got both a seal and gasket in front of me, as I will be doing this when I replace my tranny.

Seal: 12279-AD205
Gasket: 12298-7B001

I have to do the same thing. I'll be replacing mine when I do the clutch. Like 70K miles away from now.

It doesn't look complicated. You might be able to get away with sliding the tranny back a bit.

Might as well pull the engine.

I agree, it'll be mighty hard with a manual tranny.

I'm not sure as to why the childish person added their comments in a humorous manner to my initial query, but I really don't have time to make jokes whenever I'm on this site looking for support and/or suggestions concerning any problem I may have with my Nissan Pathfinder.

I have always gotten help on this forum, provided I asked an intelligent question and provided enough info and details.

Simple questions are generally answered by consulting a $15 repair manual, which any do-it-yourselfer should own.

I joined this forum mistakenly thinking I could get productive information concerning my Pathfinder. However, I soon discovered that this site is no different than any other BB's, and they all could care less about new folks that join the club. They are so consumed with the goal of who has the most post's instead of offering constructive information...as if that makes them a guru of some sort.
