Mad torch smiley35Hi,
Okay I'm trying to remove the Filler Plug from my Rear differential 1998 Frontier 4x4. Tried Air-Impact wrench, Manual/Hammer Impact wrench, Broke Two 1/2 Breaker-Bars [one huskey, one Craftsman]and was lifting the back-end up with the jack under the Breaker-Bars!!! And packed dry ice and alternated with heat....at wits-end...any suggestions!!!???? And soaked with Liquid-wrench/penetrant...makes Nice fire with torch!!!

I hope you're turning counterclockwise.... And that you return the breakers to respective stores for free replacement.

Is the square hole stripped out?

To get those things out, I usually have to use a 1/2" breaker bar and a sledgehammer on the end of the bar. They get stuck in there pretty good if they havent been out in a long time.

If you put teflon tape on there before you put it back in (should you ever get it out) it will come out easier next time and be less prone to leaking.

This is odd. I've never had any problems removing my fill plugs.

smiley35Yea I've never had a Problem with any in the past either, Bought this truck from avondale "Toyota" and they even showed me the receipt that they changed ALL Fluids on her, Now I know who to blame!!!!!! I was just going to Make sure that every-thing was right [guess NOT!], My bad, I'm to blame should have checked earlier than the 30,000 miles that the book says to check Trans.,Transfer-case,Diff's and yes before any-one flames me I change my oil at 3000 miles Religiously,in fact changed it the first day I brought her home I always use "Castrol" so I put "Castrol" in it["Castrol Synthetic-Blend"]! Thing is I've had this truck for 2 years and have only put 18,520 miles on it, but with gas at $3.90 a gallon I'm trying to squeese every Damn mile-per-gallon out of it.....So Silly-My-Ass Me I'm going to drain all the fluids and put all Nissan O.E.M. GL4,and Whatever in it...! I've already put on A "Weapon-R" intake and "Megan-Header"[yea it's for a 240SX] with a "Magna-Flow" exhaust. I drive 64 miles a day to and from work and at 20 M.P.G. with a 4x4 I'm not doing bad....but not doing great either!? Yup going to replace the cover! Peoria Nissan has one for $26.94 but don't know if it comes with the plug or not, E-mailed them...waiting on response from them, their Illustrated Parts Breakdown doesn't show the Plug at ALL......Oh Well.....GAS Prices SUCK...!!!!!

Yep, click on the banner ad. There's a parts request form and they'll email you a price typically same day.

If the fluids were changed by the dealer then they used an air ratchet. It's much harder to brake torque on a nut/bolt which was installed with an air ratchet.

Air tools can be evil. In my opinion should only be used to break torque. Once torque is broke you should use a regular ratchet.
