I'm pretty new to this scene but am planning to do a Stock Carb swap for a Weber 32/36. However in my searching I have found what appears to be the Weber 32/36 and an EMPI 32/36.

Are these the same carb? Is EMPI a knock off? They seem to be about $100 cheaper in cost.

Your input and thoughts on this are welcomed.

Its probably a cheap knockoff.. I used to get a EMPI stuff for my 510 way back when. Some of the volkswagen stuff they had would work for the 510. I found that it worked, but it never fit quite right or didn't seal properly, so its kinda buyer beware.
