long story short; My 96 4cyl broke down one day and when i finally towed it home, i noticed that someone had cut out my cat conv. Changed a few parts and got it running but it runs rough, especially at normal op temp. I have also replaced the missing cat with some tubing. I have removed cat's before on pre OBD-II cars and noticed no problems.

Q. Has anyone experienced any problems doing this with OBD-II vehicles?

PS i have heard many opinions from many mechanics saying yes and no, so you have personal experience then please state so.

thanks

LOL, it's called "testing", and I am conducting a 10 year test at this moment. I cut out all 4 cats, and run headers and a Flowmaster super 40, my rig runs great.

Well i went ahead and installed a cat conv an hour ago, figured it needed it anyway and i'm under a time crunch. No improvement. Still no codes but it is running very rich, can smell fuel after cranking for a while. pulled the plugs and they are wet so i'm assuming spark problems, maybe jumped timing belt/chain?
I've changed the plugs, wires, dist cap and button, tps sensor, and IAC sensor. I had codes for the 2 sensors originally but after installing new ones and reseting the confuser, they didn't come back. truck didn't improve either. Thoughts?
